September Map of the Month Voting Thread

With a shortage of submissions for the month of September, I have no choice but to poll the two submissions. However, these two submissions are not without merit, they are fun and both justly deserve a chance! So download them, play them, and vote for your favorite!

You are only allowed one (1) vote and you cannot view the results until the polling period has ended.

For some guidelines on how you should base your vote, please refer to our very own StarCraft MOTM Guidelines. Do they meet or beat the standards set? It's up to you!

    Vote or be pwned!

Here's my detailed review of Dodge Ball Arena.

First of all I think there are many little things that are needed, such as center view when you choose which "dodger" you want to play, then you always spawn at the same location, it would be interesting to spawn randomly, and it's also very easy to trigger.

Also, there's too many sprites in my opinion, and all of them were useless to the map.

You could have used gas or mineral to keep track of the life of every player, so you don't have to move your screen away from your unit to see how many remaining life you have.

A very simple detail but, I'm a perfectionist: you should add map revealer all over the map for a neutral comp and share the vision of this comp with human players. That way we wouldn't see some uneven, bad looking black stuff on the minimal.

Now about the gameplay, I haven't intensely tested the map but it doesn't look quite balanced.. anyway that's not even the point since this is just a 1 unit combat arena with 3 rows of scourge.. dodging that isn't the challenge since they get very predictable after only a few seconds of play.

What this map needs is more scourge, spawning randomly and maybe moving in a more randomize way.. so it becomes a challenge to actually dodge them..

and maybe a spell casting system to fight each other because it gets obsolete to fight with only one unit.

This map has too many flaws to be enjoyed by me. Sorry. However, you could really improve your concept even if the core of it was a bit overused in the past. I strongly suggest that you work more on it.. I personally volunteer to help you.

Here's my detailed review of Survivor: The Game Show.

The music in the briefing made me laugh, it was a good idea and it fits the theme of the map.

Beside that the map is pretty empty, No strategy at all, beside micro the sh*t out of the enemies, in fact that's the only thing you can do in it..

I'm not too sure about the balancing, I didn't really tried to play it.. I was a too disapointed when I realised it was only this.

Anyway, thanks for participating.. and keep making map... the more you make, the better you get.

Note: I won't vote for either maps.

thanks for the constructive criticism, i didnt see the actual "MOTM" thread until really late, and i cannot host, so i could not get very much peer criticism before the deadline. seeing how im always looking from the map-maker's point of view, i need others to look at it from the gamer's point of view. when i play a game, i usually see about 10 or so things in it that bug me, such as "so and so sprite was not even with the rest of those sprites." for the next month, i will be starting the moment i know the theme, so i hope i will have more time to test the product. thanks again :D

oh, and can the submitters vote?

I know it's a bit rude but I'm sure you are happier with a honest and usefull comment than a random "it's a good map" comment.

I don't know what Imagine planned, but I would answer "yes"

Hmmm...Interesting statistics so far...I'm surprised somebody even mentioned voting for my map, but I guess people will vote for something because it has awesome music in the briefing, lol.
