September Map of the Month Submission Thread

In order to implement starcraft2forum.org's Map of the Month, Here is a submission thread for the month of September and the selected theme for the month is Arena. Please review our StarCraft Map Of the Month Guidelines before posting a submission or suggestion.

You may submit any number of maps by you or anyone else, so get to it! :thumbup: On another note, I recommend using starcraft2forum.org's downloads database which can be found here to upload maps (or replays).

 

Arena eh? Do you mean something like an RPG map where the players with the most kills currently on the map are teleported to a colloseum-like arena in the center where they must kill each other? If so, than I'm in! I love making UMS maps!

 

Okay! I need to attach descriptions of the themes to be specific. I will add them onto the guidelines as soon as possible.

The arena theme is something that is based in a playing field where events take place such as the Cat vs. Mouse series, Team Micro Arena, Particle Arena, Sports Maps like Futbol, Zerg Soccer, etc. etc.

 

Cool, I was thinking of maybe making a Price is Right map. It could be like this:

A set of items appear in front of you, and a text message asks how much a certain item costs, (in minerals), and you must shoot the item you choose. If the price is wrong, Bob Barker will attack you, (Zealot). You will be given a certain amount of health, and Bob Barker will respawn everytime he is killed, and become neutral again until another player guesses wrong. Whoever remains alive last wins.

 

LMAO! Bob Barker... If you feel like making a map that is like the Price is Right, get at it! You have until August 21st to submit it!

 

ImaGiNe. I just want to tell you that the price is much too low for what it is all about...

however.. I might come back to map making and submit a project for this theme because it's one of the themes where I'm the best at.

btw I don't think that Price is right map is an arena game .. and here's an advice to danhillman, if you make the price is right.. either make it like the real tv game is or make the "amount of health" with virtual hp (burrowed units under you and mark and keep count of your hp%) that way you can control how much dmg bob deals to you everytime.. and make it more "fair"

back to ImaGiNe. I suggest you change the date, you won't get submissions dude! trust me.. map making is friggen dying. and now you ask for a theme that is extremely hard to do..

I'll do a ball game if I have the time. Probably a beta/conceptual version of an idea I had when I made Liquid Arena 2 (an undone map that had a very, very high potencial and unique concept)

oh and since this is going to be one of my few posts today.. I just wanna tell you that my activity for the next few days are going to be very low... but I'll be back.

 

Yeah, August 21 is a little stiff, but I believe I can get all the triggers made by that time. Because I'm hoping to make it my best map ever. I have the terrain and starting points done with, I just need to work on the triggers. Here's a pic of it in the attachment area below.

 

It is at 100 minerals because I want to be sure that I can afford to give out the reward for every single month. I do not post insane amounts on these forums so I do not have a stable flow of mineral income. However I did state that other members are welcome to donate items/money to the winning map of the month's creator (if they are current member of starcraft2forum.org!)

The date is sufficient though I can push it back to the 25th of every month, because once all submissions are placed we do need to a week to get the voting process started. Also, you are not obligated to create a map specifically for this theme, I did mention that you can submit a map that has already been made such as TerraTek Battle Zone.

 

Is it just me danhillman693 or does your map look INSANELY like the layout of V-tec paintball which is a similar type of game mode.

 

V-Tec Paintball? Never heard of it. The characters on my map only stay in that little square in the middle; where the four start locations are. Anyway, Imagine, I will gladly donate 100 minerals into the pot so the prize can be better; I don't have any plans on buying anything in the near future. Should I send minerals to you and the prize will be 200 minerals and a owerup:? I will gladly do so.

 

The two bases in V-Tec paintball look almost excatly like that but where you have the 4 locations that is where you select your character in that game and the white one in the middle would be where the flag is and it is almost the same layout with the stairs, pathways and everything.

 

Its another series of maps based on the installation tileset. They were the predecessor (I believe...) of the Laser Tag and Sniper Paint Ball maps. You may feel free to donate, it is totally at your discretion.

It does not look like V-Tec to me, the only similarity is that it's based on the installation tileset.

On another note, I have upped the cash out prize to 500 minerals. Come on people! Submit some worthy maps!

EDIT: Additionally, I would like to submit my newest map, Survivor: The Game Show, which I have been working on for not too long. I was originally going to make it a Price is Right replica, but instead, I changed some triggers, deleted some, and added new ones, though I did keep the old Price is Right theme in the mission briefing. It should not be too hard; I give you 5000 health with pretty easy computer opponents which appear on the stage when you kill off a wave of em'. When you kill ten waves, you win. I highly suggest that you play the game with FOUR PLAYERS! If you do not, it is a good possibility you will lose easily. That is all.

Yeah I agree about the time needed to vote and stuff.. is voting going to work?

and what is TerraTek Battle Zone? a map by you?

ok I just had an idea.. I'm not sure what kind of voting you had in mind but.. sometimes (lol I mean.. all the time) it's very hard to find people to play these weird and underground maps.. so it could be better to have a team of judges who would play and rate every maps. I would be in.

also, if we can submit old stuff.. I'll submit Liquid Arena 1, a friggen old map of mine.. I think it wasn't even made in starforge..

I'll probably not submit a map unless I have a day or 2 free to do that.. in the meanwhile I'll work on a fun concept.

 

08/16/07: Haven't started my map yet.

Let's see what I can do before august 21st.

Also, something I must say before August 21, please note that you will not be getting the additional 200 minerals right away, I will give them to you when I have 200 minerals, which won't be long at all, really. I hope nobody will have a problem with this, and if you do, I am sorry, I went a little crazy at the forum shop. But you will be getting the 200 minerals when I get a chance, okay? When I wrote this, I had about 70 minerals, so I guess I'd better start posting! This only applies to the winner, who will be getting the total pot prize, of 700 minerals.

 

I have only received one submission thus far and the closing date is tomorrow.

 

Tommorow is only the 20th though...or is that the closing date? Wait, let me take a quick look...

 

Oh yeah! I have to take into account different time zones. I'll have to set that up!
