?

Should more SCVs be able to build a base at the same time?

I got this picture of the scv, it looks a little different.
more like a builder, tbh i liked the cool gas mask of the old one, but i didnt like its legs.
Look at its right hand drill, didnt they have a laser before?

Well I don't know what the old SCV's looked like by heart, but they definitely seem different to me... these remind me of Lego: Rock Raiders somehow, but I think I like them... although I can only hope they'll have the same SCV-feel about them xD I think they will though, they had it on the gameplay video I think... ::checks it again::

I think they had a drill in the right hand in the original too, or something that resembled a drill but was actually a cold fusion cutter. They don't look that much different, but they are a little weird. Maybe because the SCV wasn't exactly the unit they were trying to highlight in the demo so they gave it a more raw look for now.

I never understood why they needed such huge feet when they don't actually use them. The pilot's legs can't be that long.

those long long legs are designed to fit a jet pack inside because SCVs are actually floating/hovering all the time. They also have to fly up to repair battlecruisers :D

It looks very similar to the old SCV, yet very different at the same time. I think it looks pretty good.

But it really doesn't matter cuz if you end up getting purple as your color all your units look gay. Purple hydras eck~ I never liked teal too much either.

I think thats the fusion cutter not a drill and it looks ok to me.

Nothing is final and Blizz won't release until they are happy with it.

I ran across this idea in another thread and I think it might actually be feasible. The original thread was about auto-casting for units that have small abilities. Medics already do this but what about shield batteries and SCV repair injured units that get near them? This idea, for Terran at least, sounded too overpowered as you could just accompany troops in battle and forget about trying to micro them. But, when I thought more about a shield battery I decided to apply that idea to SCVs.

What if an SCV, or group of SCVs, could have an auto-repair ability that locks them in place and turns them into a quickie repair station. They will repair any injured unit that you send near them. The most direct drawback would be that SCVs are very weak and if someone were quick enough then they could easily be lost. However, I foresee a few exploits with this idea, so restrictions might need to be placed:

    1. The SCVs cannot move while in auto-repair mode.
    2. The SCVs cannot attack while in auto-repair mode.
    3. They cannot repair buildings while in this state. So, no cheap bunker/turret plus auto-repair combos.
    4. They will not repair units who are currently engaged in combat or casting spells
    5. They will not repair units are actively using an ability state: Siege mode, cloaked, defensive matrix.
(To nullify these rules you would simply have to micro the regular SCV repair function.)

What do you think about this idea?

I'd rather just micro my SCVs because that means my enemy has to micro their SCVs and that makes the game not dumbed down like warcraft 3

yea definetly agree with that statement. terran is all about micro anyways. And please no repair bay. That just defeats the purpose of the SCV other than collecting minerals. It's just dumbing down the gameplay and make people lazy. Why not give the barracks auto healing abilities for marines? oh wait the medic (if there is in SC2) does that.

they will probably implement that auto-repair on/off switch from wc3 anyway...

well thats far less dumbed down that this other idea. and as it is probably inevitable, there isn't much to do about it.
