I've never seen Immortals + Warp Prisms used and abused quite like this: (Immortal micro begins at 10:52 - although the whole replay is really quite interesting) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAJ6Om33vvc Units that have an instant attack (Immortals, tanks, etc.) can use this type of drop play to kill units with attack animations (Spines, Marauders, Roaches, etc.) without taking any damage at all! Pretty cool.
It's probably similar to the reaver+shuttle micro back in SCBW. Unfortunately I can only watch it later as the video buffers extremely slowly at 720p... quite odd. I love your commentaries by the way.
Hai Hunter! It's a pretty old video lol and it's been on my favourites ever since it was out, lol... It's not that it's underused, it's that it requires extremely good control to use that makes it hard to perform... It's the same micro that was used with Siege tanks back in the SC:BW era where you dropped the tank once to orient it towards the target, lift it before it got hit and redrop it to get a shot off, and Boxer was pretty famous for it for using it against dragoons and reavers... I tried doing it against Kuvasz once and failed miserably because not only didn't I perform it well, but I also delayed my frontal attack and abandoned my macro, lol... Still yeah, It was an awesome sight indeed, I loved how he used the prisms to get vision and use the drop-pickup micro in such an incredible way... I think there must be still some vod's around with Boxer and other known terran players using this thing, expecially against protoss enemies in SC:BW...
Watched the video and I must say it wasn't only the immortal micro that was worth watching. The contain itself was nice and might help me learn to counter it, should I happen to see it done against me. Though at my level I don't think many players would commit to this. ps Stir, the tactic is underused because it needs extremely good control
That's what I said(or think I said, I meant that anyway ), it's freaking tough to perform, few people would even try it
