Do you think it will possible to effectivly micro your Zealot rushes when it gets to the point where you upgrade the Charge ability (the unit seems to randomly charge to any unit once within effect range). I think Zealot rush won't be as potent any more especially against micro intense enemies as before I would rely on the speed upgrade to quickly move the Zealot being attacked to attack another targets and when I done this continuously the enemy units would lose hits making me win better.
I can win a match in 5 mins with just Zealots but when it goes on for longer the speed upgrade is very much needed as the faster you get to the base the better, now they don't have that what will become of early Protoss rushes?

Blizzard has talked about microing zealots while they have charge, hopefully they will be able to back while going in 'charge-mode' or we would just watch zealots dies....recklessly......painfully.......

Huh? Of course not, they attack the unit you order them to, and - like in SC - they choose a random (closest) target if you attack-move.

As for the topic, the missing leg upgrade is pretty much compensated by making the SC2 Zealot move faster than an unupgraded SC Zealot but slower than an upgraded one. So I would think that early Zealot rushes will be much more dangerous in SC2 since by default Zealots will be pretty swift, but late game they will be less favoured on large maps because of their regular move speed. However, they will be a common choice among players on smaller maps, since charge works independently from terrain (in a "bee-line"? that's what the dictionary gave me lol) so if there's X amount of distance between the Zealot and an enemy unit in a straight line (which happens to go over a cliff) then the Zealot will engage in charge all through its path to the ramp and then to the enemy. At least, that's what I think would make the most sense. If that's true then Zealots will truly pwn on tight maps because of virtually teleporting to the enemy unit.

I dont really think the rushes will be much stronger, because from the screenshots/videos right now, it seems like everything is faster... at least Blizzard said that on fastets the game speed shouldbe the same as SC1 fastest. Charge needs to be upgraded as fas as i know, so you will bot have it when you rush... but perhaps the zealot rush is stronger then before, but it seems like the Terran know can start effective with MM against Protoss, so i hope those will be OK against zealots.

Looks me to me unless you build your offensive buildings close to their base a Zealot rush wouldn't work that great on larger maps then.

the leg enhancement is in the charge ability, so now not only are they faster on foot but even faster when they are about to attack.

@lurkers_lurk. Are you sure about the charge upgrade including a sort of leg enhancement too? Post some kind of evidence from a Q&A or something, cause as far as I know the charge totally replaced the leg enhancement.
And I agree with Kuvasz. Late game, Zealots are less effective, making the late game more about the late game units. :)

lurkers lurk is right, they did say the charge and leg enhancements were in the same upgrade. I'll post it as soon as I find it. It was in one of the older Q&A's.

It's not really early game, more like 1.5 -2nd tier. It was from the twilight council as of blizzcon, which was aftter the cybernetics core and prereq for the immortal.

The Cital of Adun was after the Cybernetics Core also, and you could get it pretty quick.

Yes, but that still was more like tier 1.5, and it didn't upset the balance much before either.

Citadel of Adun is tier 2, as dragoons are tier 1.5 and citadel comes after. Dark templars and HT are 2.0 - 2.5

WIck, I am still waiting for that evidence. ;)
I consider the speed bonus gone until I've seen some actual proof.

the problem with finding where they said that was that they said it in a non sticky thread ( thats where i read it anyway ) a long time ago so the thread where it was in has been was deleted.

I really hope that the speed upgrade effects zealots overall speed, mass zealot attack was my favorite late game tacit when i was too lazy to make carriers. Also what do you mean by "non-sticky threads" ?
If it was in a Q&A cant you just go to birdofprey's post that has all of them up to 29 and read it. It should be in there somewhere.

It wasn't in a Q&A, it was actually in one of them Blizzcon experience review threads, which were deleted when this forum got an overhaul. I'll try looking for them on some other site, but I don't expect much success.
