Hi. I'd like to know if there will be 3 campaign for the first DVD. Remember : Starcraft 2 will be shared into 3 campaigns, the Terran (WoL), the Zerg and the Protoss. Each campaign will get 30 missions, so with this trilogy we'll get 90 missions ! But, for example, for the Terran campaign we'll get 30 missions (I point the fact that SC1 got 30 missions with all T, Z and P campaigns, same for BW). The question is : will we play one Terran faction for all those 30 missions, or will we play 3 differents factions ? Remember, for instance, in the Terran campaign in Brood War, we played for the UED. We never played for Mengsk, or for Raynor (like we did in SC1), or for another faction. So if we play just for one faction for all the 30 missions of WoL .... it will suck. I'd like to play with Raynor a time, with Mengsk another time even if there are rivalties between them. Some factions are friends with the Protoss, not other. Maybe one faction will be a UED-like, using some Zergs. Any info is welcome. thanks
Hrm, to be honest .. I think 90 missions for all 3 is not enough I mean.. like 5 of those will be "how to defend your base and build stuff" so it's more like 75 for all 3. Nothing you can't do with a few days play.
Ya, 3 campaigns it was like 33 missions each *if i read and remember correctly*? Well, it would be very cool if raynor attacks mensk for a few missions then you have to play as mengsk for a few missions defending. Then whatever blizzard wants happens. That would be cool, but judging on how the campaign looked and was developing, it seemed each campaign you have one main briefing room, on a ship. Possibly in the zerg. You will be in a underground cavern, with nydus that take you places? That would be sweet. Just a thought. Edit: *I wrote that and then was playing dota for like 3 hours so I didnt see that message until I posted* anyway, but lobster, these wont be ordinary campaign missions. Dont forget there is a *sub plot* you can interact alot more, buy new upgrades and such. Adding much more depth to the campaign. Remember blizzard will not let us down, they never have.
*sigh* - Wings of Liberty is played with Raynor only. The whole buying of extra units and upgrades is based on this rebel theme. At least that is what has been announced so far. - Wings of Liberty contains a mini-campaign where you play with Zeratul only. - Heart of the Swarm is played with Kerrigan only. At least that is what has been announced so far. - Heart of the Swarm also contains a mini-campaign. I do not know what faction you play there. I assume you play Terran, since Protoss already has one in Wings of Liberty. - In Legacy of the Void you have a diplomatic theme. You play different missions for different factions. The missions you get depend on what choices you make in the missions. At least that is what has been announced so far. - Legacy of the Void will obviously also contain a mini-campaign. No idea what faction, but it should be obvious that you play Zerg. Look around on b.net forums for the exact info. I kinda am to lazy to go and quote all that stuff. As for the missions not being enough: the mini-campaigns will do just fine to expand the storyline. 30 missions for each race is a lot. Do not forget that there will be more in-game cinematics. Plenty of oppertunities to tell the story. And then I have not even mentioned a possible expansion or downloadable content yet...
There will be some mini-campaigns and tutorials. There will be a Zeratul mini-campaign in Wings of Liberty. I suspect there will only be a zerg tutorial. I suspect there will be a Zeratul mini-campaign in Heart of the Swarm. Raynor's group will be the only group in Wings of Liberty's full campaign. There might be something like Enslavers though, but again that would only be a mini-campaign.
I wonder what the mini campaign will be like. I hope it is done well. I wonder if the briefing room will be on board a protoss ship instead of a Terrain Battlecruiser since you will be Zeratul. Hopefully they will throw in some cool minigames also.
The missions should be different from each other. Playing with different factions does not mean that the missions will be different. For instance you play with Raynor and you have to destroy a base that belongs to Arcturus, and in another mission you play for Arcturus and you'll have to destroy a base that belongs to Raynor. Playing with different factions is according to me a way to play this Terran campaign differently. I can't see yet what Blizzard is preparing, but it should be awesome if they succeed in deversifying the gameplay. @ Lanceleader : if they disappoint us ? Well, I will be disappointed, maybe disgusted. But not until hating Starcraft 2 and Blizzard. I SHALL buy all the 3 DVDs. I am a real fan. HOWEVER I will not become a crazy addictive player. No ... @ Aurora : Thank you for the info. A bit scary however. But let's trust Blizzard
"Playing with different factions does not mean that the missions will be different." Unless you give them different tech trees to go along with the cool mission.
I'm a story based player, imo having similar missions from different point of views would be great, of course different tech trees would be a huge bonus but perspective is an important part of campaigns for me (this is what the sc story so good, the campaigns biased portrayal of each races objectives balanced out to make a breathtaking story).
