SC2 Update: Mothership Story

As part of a series of short stories to--there's no denying it--fill the gaps in development news, Blizzard has released another lore short story, written by Brian Kendrigan. This time it's a backstory to the now legendary Protoss Mothership. Set at the end of the Auir invasion and worked into the original Brood War storyline, the writing is solid and the story compelling. You'd normally expect to buy a book for this kind of stuff. There's also a gameplay video and some fan art to drool over. Enjoy!​

now this mothership cloakes units and not structures. it's better.
can it also cloak allies units, even zerg and terran ?

seriously, though. blizz has become hella slow with site updates... or any kind of SC2 news at all.

 

The story is great.

Sorry man you can't see the conclave for now, the planet is occupied by the zerg, I suggest you to activate your weapon

 

Thanks for posting this. I can already tell I am going to like this Juras fellow. The guy who designed the Mothership being pissed off at the Zerg definetly can't be bad thing. It will be interesting to see what all he has in his bag of tricks.

 

man, if those motherships (especially the armada-leading ones) still had those planet-wiping weapons... the protoss would be able to eliminate the zerg pretty quickly. or if not eliminate, at least massively weaken. what's stopping this apocalyptic weapons tech from sweeping the sector and razing planets?

 

I also prefer the original Mothership standard attack. Blizzard modified so many units that I prefer the original ones than the new ones. Like for the Thor.

@ Ronin : yes, you're right about the cloaked pylon.

 

Well if you calcul that the entire shield of the mothership had been gone in what? Somes minutes maybe? There is a chance they get destroyed before even reach the planet.

 

in the story. they mention the Conclave. wasn't the conclave supposed to be destroyed ?

I like the video, but mainly because I can't get over the awesomeness of the Mothership's teleportation animation. The story is okay, but terribly written.
