Hi there again Xev! I got a new situation with my game :S

For some weird reason and without having changed something hardware- or software-wise the game started crashing again and again whenever I try to start it up.

After the loading screen is over and the login screen music starts playing the game stops responding. Sometimes I get to see the login screen buttons but am unable to press any of them(the music keeps playing but everything else is frozen while my mouse can still move around) and sometimes I only get the background image without any of the buttons as it stops responding before they're out. Still able to hear the music and move my mouse about.

My CCC settings are as follows:

-Anti-Aliasing: Use Application settings checked. Filter: box(dunno if it affects anything)

    -Anisotropic filtering: Use App settings

    -Catalyst A.I.: disabled

    -Mipmap Detail Level: Performance

    -Wait for vertical Refresh: Performance

    -Adaptive Anti-Aliasing: Not enabled

    -OpenGL settings: Tripple buffering disabled

There were some settings suggested by a blizzard poster for ccc, but it was for a guy with a different problem than mine and well, completely different hardware, so I'm not sure if applying them would do me any good, but here's a link I found:
    http://sc2pod.com/trackers/blue/?id=7434

Anyway, any cool ideas I should try out?

    Cheers, bro! :)

I have exactly the same problem since 10 minutes ago
It completely hangs at login screen.
    It always worked before.

Tried to update drivers but it didn't help

I'm also experiencing the same problem.

    Having bought the game today:

    - It installed fine
    - played well over several sessions (however settings are on low)

However after going to the pub for a beer, I return to find the same problems that Stirlitz is having.

The only thing to happen during this time is that windows performed an auto-update.

    I have a Sony laptop - VPCEE2S1E/BQ

    Same problem as mentionned above/before.

    Same problem as mentionned above/before.
Music is still working, the background shows up and animates for a second and then freezes.
    The interface(buttons+forms) appear sometimes.

I don't know if this could be related, but I'm having exactly the same trouble. And seem to have found a workaround.

I played (including exiting / opening) the game several times throughout the day.

Then I came to play this evening, having changed nothing (haven't touched the PC since the last play), and it's freezing after the loading screen. I get about a second of the planet / stars graphics moving, then it locks up.

Noticing the 1 second of seemingly normal activity before it freezes up, I thought it might be the internet connection.

If I disconnect the internet, and fire up SC2. It loads fine. Once it's at the login screen, I stick my internet connection back on, and it lets me log in, and play fine.

If I log back out, it freezes up.

After doing this, closing / reopening SC2 with internet connection plugged in, it crashes straight off.

So, try disconnecting until you get the loading screen up properly.

I guess there must be a server error somewhere!?

    I'm in EU

This must have something to do with Battle Net.
When I disable my internet connection it's working fine in offline mode.
But as soon as I enable connection and try to login it freezes again.

Side note: starting the game with all (internet) connexions down works. I get to the login screen and there is the usual message that I'm playing offline. Seems to be a server-related issue.

I don't have time to really read this thread right now... I hate to keep you waiting but try poking me on AIM/ICQ sometime tomorrow.

    It's definitely Battle net
The European Battle net website is down for maintenance as well.

    Its working again

    I agree,

It works fine in offline mode,

The servers must be playing up, gotta be Battle.net then.

Just had this same problem, where the game froze on start up. Googling brought up nothing relevant so I decided to remove the game and do a clean reinstall - which means enduring the pathetic ****pile that is the Blizzard Downloader. I really like it when the update percentage freezes for about half an hour despite being told there are "no problems detected".

I guess we'll just have to wait until the gimps sort the servers out.

That was what some guy at the TL forums also suggested and it works. Keep this as a temporary fix, till they get it working. Just disconnect and then reconnect and it works.

Let's hope they fix it soon :p

I've been looking on the web all day for a remedy to this, and came across this forum.

I registered just to say thanks to everyone who gave an option to login and play offline by d/c your internet connection.

    Thanks again everyone.

    Had the exact same problem.

Disconnected my internet and started SC2 up. Then reconnected and it worked.

    Thanks guys, lifesaver!
