I think its safe to assume that sc2 will use bnet in a similar fashion that wc3 did, with the automated match making competitve ladders, as well as the ability to go and host your own games etc like how it is in sc. My question is, I see alot of these interviews where alot of these blizzard employees kind of shrug off the idea of playing sc2 on fastest, so im wondering on if the default ladder speed will be set to fastest, or if they will have it set on normal speed and just have it set up so you have capability of making fastest CG's. I personally hope all ladder games will be set on fastest speed, but i havent heard anyone from blizzard say this, or really go into any specifics about higher game speeds other then that they are planning to "support it".
they actually did say in an interview that the game speed was normal in the gameplay trailer and they intend to make it faster.
LOL heheh yea, everyone plays fastest, not just Koreans. Rest assured default ladder game speed will be something as fast as SC1's fastest.
Yeah, whenever I want to play a normal 1v1 I log on Asia server. It's better than only playing boring $$$$$$FASTEST MAP EVER OMGNEWVERSIONLAVALOL$$$$$$ everytime. But sometimes I get intimidated cause I can't understand korean typing =[. I can totally imagine the Korean behind his computer waiting 5 minutes in a 1v1 game hoping someday he'll become as good as his Starcraft-idol and get all the hot Korean chicks. Gosh, even their UMS games are 1v1/2v2/3v3/4v4, I don't know how they can play sooo much only doing 1v1.
On normal, it takes too long waiting for everything. It takes too long to wait for the next frame of animation, for the next bullet to fire from the Marine's rifle. You pull out your watch and start tapping you feet, like Sonic the Hedgehog. That said, I actually dropped the gamespeed down to slowest (Matrix bullet time!) the first time I beat the last level in Brood War. I couldn't micro fast enough to win on the reasonable speed settings, I didn't want to cheat, so I did the next best thing.
Yeah, nowadays if anyone puts the game speed to anything other than fastest, the host will just be called a noob and everyone will leave. The only times I used anything other than fastest was in 1-player for practice with splitting scvs and stacking hydras etc.
I'm sure that Blizzard would crater the game for the Koreans when it comes to ladder. That means, the game will probably be set at fastest. Normal is just too slow.
