Hey guys first post I need some help with the installation of Sc2 my problem starts when the installation reaches 51% the problem is The installer was unable to read the file "Repack-MPQ\fileset.enUS#Campaigns#Liberty.SC2Campaign#enUS.SC2Assets\Assets\Textures\cinematic_bettermarine.ogv". This error may be caused by problems with the media or drive at E:\--for example, a scratched or dirty CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, hard drive corruption, or a networking problem while downloading the installer. (The error code was 5.) If this problem persists, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (ReadJob::Execute) I've done everything that is needed to do on the tech support guild lines and I know its not the disk because I've successfully installed it on my labtop. Any suggestions?
Have you repeated the installation attempt and still get stuck at the same point? 51% sounds to be like the DVD drive is having difficulty handling a dual layer disc. If your computers are networked, you might try sharing the laptop's DVD drive and installing over the network. The disc isn't required for gameplay.
Yes I have tried repeated installations can you give me some instructions on how to install over the network?
Basic sharing instructions. Instead of selecting a folder, you select the DVD drive. You've never used file sharing on a network before? If your laptop isn't Windows XP, let me know what OS it is, and I'll dig up instructions. If you've never done file sharing, this may not be pretty. I wish there was a 2 DVD method for installing this game -_- just so you could backup the downloaded install. If its easier, you might just want to log into your battle.net account on the desktop and download the online installation too. Might be easier then giving you a crash course in networking. If both machines were Windows 7, that would make things wayyyyy easier. What OS is on the each machine.
This is a simple guide to networking Vista based computers. The key thing is to press windows_logo_key+break opening up the system properties window. When this screen comes up you will see your computer name and workgroup. Click "Change settings," in the next window, to change your computer name click "change..." Each computer should have a unique name, but be in the same workgroup. Example: Leave the Workgroup name as "WORKGROUP" since it is the most common workgroup name (Yeah, that's confusing). You can view the machines on the network by looking here: (This picture is WHY you want your machines in the SAME workgroup, they will not be grouped together!) Use this guide to share a drive. Instead of a hard drive, simply choose the DVD drive and follow the rest of the instructions! If you are unable to access the DVD drive even after all of that, find a folder on your laptop you can browse to via the desktop, and copy the SC2 installer to that folder. :/ This stuff gets complicated without hands on.. its next to imposable to troubleshoot issues without actually working on it yourself.
