Karune announced, by request of a player, that there will be a feature to adjust the level of gore in gameplay.
Moderately interesting news, but philosophically, quite interesting.

    http://www.battle.net/forums/thread.aspx?fn=sc2-general&t=48948&p=1&#post48948

A few good posts are in the thread, and of course a lot of psycho's
    ----------------------
Smart idea, I think the level of gore in SC1 was fine, it makes the game more accessible a wider market.

Conceptually, I think it is strange; kind of like a war without consequences. If war/violence had no deterrent, would people have a reason not to be violent?

-one interesting post, was stating that: Game Makers are artists, and forcing an artist to conform to your personal taste is kind of wrong; telling them how they must express themselves rather than allowing themselves to find a way to do it ruins art.

    What do you think?

I think that I am gonna use the most violent setting available. :D
I want it to be as bloody as SC1.
It gave it a sense of reality.

I won't be using that slider, but I think it's a good thing to do. Me mum doesn't like me fighting Zerg cause of the guttage, and I know she's not the only one.

I think it is a good idea. I won't take advantge of it but if it means the game will be acceptable to a wider market its fine, just so long as they don't regulate speech in b-net. I swear, the fact that you can actually get in trouble in WoW for swearing, even though there is a filter, pisses me off to no end. Not that I swear that much anyway but there are times when it is appropriate and the idea that some prick could report me... I've never had any problems with it but I've known people who have.

Also, I have one other question. Why the hell was SC BW rated M?

I think we will have less problems when people learn the difference between real and fake

Max gore will most likely be the normal gore, so it won't be very spectacular, other than it already is. :)

We're overlooking the biggest implication of being able to opt out of gore and debris: it'll make it easier for lower-end computers to handle the game without affecting gameplay. The physics calculations used for debris would tax some computers, and would be a great thing to cut to allow those users to join in on the fun.

I agree with Neon. The gore would add more graphics to the gameplay, making it harder for the older computers to play the game. THe gore setting option is great because older people can play it with the gore swttings they love, and younger people with watchful parents could playing on a lower gore setting so their parents won't freak out.

Yeah I think it's a sweet idea. I personally will play with 100% gore, but if my computer can't run that well I'd like the option to turn it off. Plus, the game will be more accessible to people. I know certain parents don't let their kids get gory games, if it is adjustable this may change their minds.

Interesting.... I agree with all above on matters that it would possibly slow down the system, thus making such options reasonable.... (theres a fair chance i will have to use it :) )

Same here, my labtop wasn't build to play super high tech games. And from what SC2 looks like so far, I bet it will be.
