  1. hey everyone, i got a intel core2 duo 2.66, 4gs of ram, and an nvdia geforce 8800 GT
    with windows 7 home premium 64 bit
    so now onto the problem, i got SC2 yesterday and the game freezes the computer with in 5 seconds into a game
    the game recommends high settings, which is what i tried, along with medium and low graphics
    It only runs on low without freezing my comp can run any other games fine, there is no lag at all on any setting
    i even threw it onto my older comp and it can run but, very choppy, but it ran on medium
    when it freezes it locks up the whole computer
    latest video driver is installed
    NEED HELP FAST! WANNA START PLAYING ASAP!

    Keep a look out for temps. Maybe your CPU is overheating.....

  3. it wouldn't over heat after a few seconds, I have games that are much more demanding and this is the only game that i am having problems with

    DUDE Same video card, same operating system, same processor, SAME PROBLEM EXACTLY! I've gotten it to run without crashing on medium settings by turning post processing to low. Other than that, I have no solution. I have a few other games which freeze up in a similar way, (Unreal Tournament 3 with certain settings on, Mirror's Edge, Halo 2 for PC crashes in a similar way, but it usually crashes immediately, whereas SC2 crashes my computer after like 5 minutes...) Anybody who has a better solution, please tell me. I believe it has something to do with the drivers for the video card, or perhaps the video card itself is defective.

    Edit: Oh, and same amount of RAM, in case that has anything to do with it, but I don't think it does. BTW I found out my processor is actually a Core 2 Duo 3.00

    First try installing the newest nVidia drivers here.

    If that fails, open your Variables.txt file (found in C:\Users\{username}\Documents\StarCraft II ) and add these lines at the end:

    frameratecap=60
    frameratecapGlue=30

    This seems to take care of a common overheating issue that people have been having with the newest nVidia drivers since beta. Guess you need to manually control your fan to max sleep too.
