I don't have a beta key so I was wondering if it is illegal to download the beta and use a custom launcher and AI. All help appreciated.

Yeah it is but I doubt blizzard will sue you over it since hundreds of thousands of other people have illegal versions as well.

    Sue? Most likely not.

Ban you from battle.net? Definite possibility.

Heads up, here at the forum, we strongly discourage this, as it is, without a doubt, a violation of the Blizzard ToS.

They probably won't ban you from battle.net since you don't have to log in to use a crack.

It is incredibly easy to get a beta key. Game stop was giving them out if you pre-ordered the game for 5 dollars. Go to the major pro-gaming sites like TL.net and post a question asking if someone knows how to get one.

This is starcraft 2..... STARCRAFT 2. .... Not a justin Beiber CD... don't illegally download it.

How could they ban you from bnet? They'd have no idea you have a cracked version.

You could just uninstall once you get the real game.

    (not advocating it, just saying)

Possibly violations of copyright and breach of contract. It is a more complicated question than you you're probably aware. For your concerns though the chances of any court action being taken against you would be very small. To use a loose analogy, it would be like hitting the powerball jackpot. You could be "banned" if Blizzard found out, although even the chances of that happening are pretty remote. And by "illegal" we're mostly talking about potential civil liability here, not criminal (i.e. breaching a contract is NOT "illegal").
