In what seems like a quick flurry of news this week, Blizzard has released the long anticipated Battle Report 2. It may not quite be the beta we're all looking for, but it is an interesting look into some of the new mechanics we've been hearing so much about.

This time it's a Red Terran (David Kim) versus Blue Zerg (Matt Cooper). It's a great match and effectively shows off the new Nighthawk abilities like the Hunter-Seeker missile as well as some of the current strategies being utilized by the Zerg.

What's also encouraging to note is that the Zerg have changed relatively little since we last saw them, and for the most part are getting tweaks. Unfortunately there were no new models unveiled in this Battle Report and the Infestor remains unchanged except for some tweaked abilities.

While the game never quite got past Tier 2 for Zerg, we did see some intereting play. Make sure to check out the full video, it's worth the watch!

Did anyone see the infestor do anything besides spawn infested terrans?

According to the armory (which can be out of date), the infestors can use a mind control ability or a damage over time ability that's a guaranteed kill (on non-massive units).

Those spells need to be researched, and the Zerg player was too busy making units and stuff.

I like how the Terran player didn't need Tanks nor Medivacs, at all. Unless they're simply useless in that match up, that is :p

idk gmg i think if he had like 2 medicvacs he would have done a bit better, if he could spare the resources of course :p

i wish we could see some great tank action.. and some more aerial combat action.

I just closed it a few seconds ago. Screw the excuse of immense number of downloads and internet traffic... this is Blizzard, and Blizzard = money. This P2P solution is crap, cheap, lame, and a shame on Blizzard.

  13. Finally the real deal, huh?

Can't wait to wait another six months for the next one!

It's nice to see though how along the game is. The banelings walk, there's animation, zerg buildings erupt in blood.I just feel bad tyu left the game.

I wish we had seen more high tier units in play but I guess they don't want to just show us everything at once.

Since we had already seen marines/marauders in the last battle report (interesting to see he didn't get any hellions even though he was against a zerg, maybe they just arent worth it against roach and hydra heavy armies), all we really got from the terran side of the battle was a demonstration of Reapers and Nighthawks. And some bunker action which I was interested in.

From the zerg side we get to see how the zerglings, roaches, and hydralisks work together to make a balanced army, and how banelings can be a very strong weapon against low tier units like marines. Unfortunately though the queen and infestors didn't really do much except demonstrate their abilities to spawn larvae and infested terrans, and we didn't even get to see the infested terrans fight.

No offense, but I think your being a bit unreasonable with that statement. What's so crappy about P2P? It's a fast, efficient system that does indeed save money. From my perspective, everybody wins.

It's usually a bit slow in the beginning, but as soon as more seeders are up, it can be faster that what you might expect from an actual file server. And if you look on the list of connections on the downloader, they do have direct http transfers running behind it.

Also, ensure that you have ports forwarded for the downloader.

Just my 2 cents I guess

    After 3 hours i reach 1%, and i have a decent connection.

Could you possibly take me through how to foward the ports? :/. Or could someone upload to a direct download.

  20. This game is the first game I've seen that is worthy of being called a true match. The strategies and back and forth movements used by these players seems much more up there with professional replays. I'm impressed. When the Zerg got bunker rushed I'll admit I had a bit of nostalgia for when I used to play Luna and Python seriously.

    YEAAAAA BLIZZZARD!!!

    1) The animations are vast improvement over what I've seen before. That bloody Hatchery was pure win and the Nighthawks look super sexy.

    2) The Banelings look like they've been changed for the better. They're slower but much more effective. When they explode **** dies just like it should. They act more like controllable mines now which is how I always imagined them.

    3) That burrowed Roach harassment on the worker line is pretty cool. In Big Game Hunters, I usually harass with crackheadlings when Burrow gets researched against newbs so this seems to be an improvement over that. I'll probably be using this strategy when the game is released.

Now, on to important business. Which one of you sorry bastards took up a several thousand mineral bet against me that the Terrans would lose? The Terrans won (just like I said) so you guys better start paying up before I get Joneagle_X on you .. and, yes, Joneagle_X's second job is mercenary work.

@kuvasz: I think it's your internet, your location, or your settings/configuration. I was downloading it at 300 KB/s after a few minutes.
