Personally I think it has more to do with WoW and the fact that it and a few other games don't have monitored chat and are suspected to be the reasons for some riots and acts of rebellion.

So for China to allow it, they would have to allow the provider of the game to be able to monitor and save every and all messages sent back and forth to and from players.

And atm it looks like Blizzard is biting a big one, loosing 50mil a month because WoW China is completely offline.

I feel sorry for Chinese citizens; their freedom seems to erode by the day.

Yea, poor Blizzard. they only have a few million in the U.S. and all of Korea. /sarcasm

    Queue piracy.

But seriously, I think someone needs to remind China that the game's not near completion. Yes, the graphics are mostly done, but it's far from being rated, and depending on what they're after, that could lead to some significant changes.

And yes, I did just refer to China as a singular entity. I am curious as to why it has nothing else to do other than ban computer games, too.

Oh man! I just realised. SC2C.com ought to be pissed.

And yes, I did just personify SC2C.com. Come get me.

Itza i really doubt China is doing this due to the violence. China has a habit of punishing foriegn companies who do not play to her tune and Blizzard has recently switched providers for WoW within China so possibly its just a backlash against them. Furthermore they only banned SC2 from being at Chinajoy they didn't ban the game (though they might when it finally gets released).

Hey, I'm just commenting on their own reason. Regardless of why they actually did it, saying they have because of blood is silly.

Well no D3 for them either, because Bashiok said that they are striving for an "M" rating :)

Now that China is out and won't be complaining of blood anymore, Blizzard should StarCraft 2 a lot bloodier.

The first thing that came to my mind when I read "StarCraft 2 banned in China" was that China is just trying to prevent their money from going to foreign countries. Maybe we should start boycoting China...

yes, lets stop trading with the country where 90% of our products are made, which serves as a helpdesk to 50% of the companies and is the biggest market in the world.

also, if they got this in the newspapers in America or European countries, it would be a great advertisement

Their loss. As long as the chinese tolerate their communist-wannabe government not only will they have very little freedom to work tih, but no SC2 as well. I mean who cares about freedoms but no SC2? REVOLUTION!

Blizzard should incorporate a gore system. You can turn it on or off. Like quake 3. Would this be a good idea? Thank the post if you agree, I wanto see how many people think they should.

This is old and inaccurate news. Even your second link says so. StarCraft 2 was "banned" from ChinaJoy; not China. This news has been corrected all around the internet but somehow that site is slow in both posting it and getting the correction. You should edit your post. To see the corrections I'm talking about go here:

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...=starcraft+banned+from+chinajoy&aq=f&oq=&aqi=

Granted, it's getting more and more possible that the game will be banned when it's released but, for the moment, StarCraft 2 is only banned from ChinaJoy; not China.

@n00bonicPlague: No, they said they were striving for a Teen rating. You don't strive for a rating that's easy to get. Getting a Mature rating is probably the easiest thing to do in the design process. Getting just the right amount of everything and pushing just barely up to the limit to get a Teen rating, is much more challenging and why they said "strive".

But, since then they've changed their approach and said they it will have a Mature rating and will be "justified" :D. Still, they're not striving for it because that's easy to do.
