    Hello.
I am an owner of Windows 7. If you think that even with the best exploitation system you can play SC1, the original without problem, YOU'RE WRONG !!!

I have just set SC1 and Brood War up. And now I have this kind of graphic bug.

I have set the latest patch, the 1.16 (from March 2009)

What to do to solve this bug please ?

    thank you.

try alt-tabbing and then going back to the game again

    P.s: what Aurora means is:

1- Go to where you installed SC (probably c:/program files/starcraft)

2- Right click on Starcraft.exe and select properties

3- click on the compactibility tab

4- select Windows 98 SE compactibility (or windows XP) and then click Accept.

What have I to configure to delete this problem ?

I do this, as I just click on the win logo. The problem persists

hm... I have the same issue with my Vista sometimes...
But for me it works out just fine if you tab it down/restart the game.

I changed to all the compatibility choices and nothing happens. It's still weird.

I think Blizzard will have to give a patch for Starcraft 1 for users of Windows 7.

Administrator, please send this request to Blizzatd, from a fanatic of Starcraft (me).

Have sent a request to Microsoft ! I had no choice ... :/

Wait, do you get that ALWAYS?
I do, what you do is make sure everything is closed down b4 u start the game.
If I get that ingame i just CTR+ALT+DEL my way in and out till it works.

I'll just assume Google doesn't work on Windows 7? ;)
Plenty of solutions already. All over the web.

It's a problem with the DirectX 11, me thinks.

    maybe ...
Anyway I tried a lot of "best solutions" that some users in battle.net/forums have posted. Nothing works.

It's a shame that Blizzard had not released a patch for us yet. This question started in July of this year and has not been solved yet .....

I'm surprised to see no blue posts on this yet. Should have at least been a message like: we're on it. :/

Been doing that with DIrectX 9-10-11 since Vista came out. Windows 7 and Vista are the same core OS, so alot of core issues still exist... just... less of them.

Once your ingame the display should be fine (except water) Compatibility mode might fix it temporarely but it WILL come back. Same as atl+tab.

Deal with it just like everybody else :)

    OR

Install windows XP as another OS choise only for StartCraft.

    Your not the only one.

    Edit:
"If you think that even with the best exploitation system you can play SC1, the original without problem, YOU'RE WRONG !!!"
If you think that, you haven't been around computer gaming for a long time. Backward compatibilty as been affecting a lot of games. I wish windows had a better XP compatibility emulator :(.

Yeah .. I mean, the game works. Don't expect it to LOOK good, but It works just fine. The only graphical glitch is the water ingame.
There's no point really in dedicating such effort in patching SC for Windows 7, if that's even possible. Maybe we should just wait for SC2 :p

Yep, I will wait for Starcraft 2 now :(

I chose all the compatibilities as possible. Win 95, 98, NT, 2000, XP (all service packs), Vista, even modified the graphic to 256 colors, etc ...

OF cOURSE the game is playable It's just the menu that has problems (graphically). Else the game is fully playable, and the cinematics too ! Except the water that gives the envy to vomit most of the times ! :(

CAN'T wait for Starcraft 2 now because I CAN'T play to Starcraft 1 and Brood War in optimal conditions !

    Hurry up Blizz-hazardous !!!!!
