SC Alpha Units Make a Comeback

Maybe a bit far fetched, but it looks like their were alot of ideas going around about the structure of the Zerg race, could any of these concepts be applied to SC2? An interesting find none the less. :good:

This was an interesting find. Apparently the Twilight Archon was originally in Brood War before being taken out (during the beta).

ANy thoughts?

Interesting.

Don't really have any thoughts though, since Brood War is done and the Twlight is in Starcraft II now.

No, its a picture of Brood War during its beta phase.


Here is a webpage devoted to cataloguing Starcraft from each of its development phases. Look at early alpha Starcraft. Mineral patches that float in space, and the Zerg seem to be able to build creep in the middle of outerspace as well...amazing all the transformations the game went through.

Banshees were originally in Broodwar! Proof with a picture!

Here it is, the Terran Banshee in an early looking Valkrie. As you can see they look similar to the banshee and attack with medium/short range air to ground bombs. Looks like some of the scraps from the original Starcraft and Broodwar made it into SC2. Interesting huh?

They probably just decided to make the Valkyrie ground attack into an air attack, and then maybe built off the original concept for Starcraft II. I'm sure it's not a big deal - I bet every game company recycles old cool ideas into new products.

Well this "valk" looks larger and "thicker" then the one that ended up in the final version of BW. Just thought it was cool, not some transcendant look into the meaning of Starcraft. ;p

Uhm...for clarification,everyone does know that those are hallucinated dark archons right.

Ok so the blue dark archons with red energy fields and black energy bands are hallucinations...right.

The weird foggy blue Archons, are hallucinations, the Red energy (Around) with a blue body (Middle of Archon) is the Twilight, and the Totally blue Archon is just a plain normal Archon.

Ah, well I think its just my headache, but I still think those two are hallucinations also, because they both have black rings with the same tint of blue for the bodies, and they may just have been a glitch, since it was in beta in all.
But you could be right, and they just recycled the dark archon sprite and made the body blue to make it different just to test it out.

...Boney. I dunno, I prefer the fleshy ones. Maybe just 1 building could be boney. Like the Ultralisk Cavern (if it returns), to represent the thick armor an Ultra has.
