Just found this article which talks about activisions prediction on sales. I'll be amazed if a PC only RTS game can sell those numbers but if anyone can do it blizzard can. http://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/2010/07/26/blizzard-launch-starcraft-millions-expected-sold/ And I came accross this article on google, I don't go to fox business
I think a lot of people will be curious about the game, because of the reputation which sc1 had. But I think $60 is too much for an average person to spend just to satisfy a curiosity. With a smaller price I think it would sell a lot better in the first week. I think 3 million sales in the first week is a bit optimistic. I predict 1-2 million. RTS games tend to be artifacts of mystery, as a lot of their quality is in balance of gameplay. And that's something you can't really judge for yourself until you've invested time playing the game. It takes time to decide this. As fans decide this, the average gamer will be told if it is balanced or not, and will happily pay the $60 price tag if the game is highly praised, and 5 million sales by the end of september would be feasible.
