According to this, the press and progamers can now sign up for the beta. The closing date is January 26.

I can neither access the site on this computer nor read Korean (Google translate doesn't work here) so I cannot vouch for this yet. Still, should be interesting given the conference call on February 10 that has just been announced as well. This is where beta information is usually announced and the beta delay announcement was given through the last one.

I have to go to class now but, for those of you who will remain on the interwebz, you should check out the SCLegacy.com forums right now. There's some interesting things popping up. I would like to post them here but I have other priorities I must attend to :D

Well I take this information as the closing date for beta signups is 26th January. But Blizz actually spreading the beta itself for people to play could be a long way off or Jan 27. We just do not know.

The SCLegacy moderators are all claiming to know something us mere mortals do not and are gleefully fapping and torturing us. Could be that they know something. Could be that they just like playing with us like mice.

Any SC2F.org mods want to say something?

I'll look into this but I will warn you that ThisIsGame.com is a very immoral gaming site and has reported false things about StarCraft 2 many times.

Many, many times. Then again they've also leaked real information. So I will check into this, but as of now I've heard nothing along these lines.

That's ... strange because, if what the SCLegacy moderators say are to be believed, the top fan site staff are recieving teh godly knowledge about the beta now. Obviously, this site would be considered one of the major ones. The fact that Joneagle_X hasn't heard anything yet though makes me think they're just hyping their own forums.

Also, the moderators have begun handing out cryptic hints (besides the ones earlier today which are far too cryptic) that has got the community speculating akin to the splash image before Diablo 3's announcement.

As for ThisIsGame.com, they mentioned the conference call before Blizzard released that information, so that could give them more credence.

SCLegacy is the oldest SC fansite, and also one of the most important. I seriously doubt they're ''tooting their own horn''.

And by the way, all this furor is over a conference call that will be aired live on the internet. Check out sclegacy.com if you want the whole ''scoop''.

I just want to add a little bit of rumor of my own concerning a beta in february...

On Thursday the 11th of February 2010, StarCraft2 will have been announced exactly 1000 days ago.

Edit: That's the day after the press conference!

    1) The Conference call isn't the whole scoop. In fact, this furor started a day before the conference announcement. It has more to do with Spychi's claims that he's talked to a Blizzard informant and Gifted's claims that he has been given beta information as well. Spychi and Gifted both said that February would be the beta date but that they were unable to give a specific date. Then, the conference call came and everyone's started to assume that February 10 is the day. Now, Gifted is dropping other hints and THAT's what's got the forum in a furor. If it had just been the conference call then the hysteria would've been no greater than what's going on here. i.e. almost completely silent :(

    2) Not all of the moderators claim to know something. Many moderators are posting on the forums and asking the same questions we are :D

    3) SCLegacy is indeed the oldest and one of the most important but I doubt Joneagle_X wouldn't have heard SOMETHING if so many moderators and small unknown European fan sites have. I'm not saying I doubt what they're saying. in fact, I've been on the forums and directly said that I believe them. My point is, is that they might not have as much information as they claim and their hints might not actually mean anything. Perhaps they only know the month or the month and the day and not the other information they claim. Because, before that, they said their claims were just from employees. Now, they said they've had it confirmed through more direct means. Which, to me, means that Blizzard is giving them teh infos so that they can hype us up. In which case, I feel Joneagle_X should know if he doesn't already :D

Please don't mistake my numbering as being short with you. It's simply too early for me to form coherent paragraphs :D

@RHStag: Yeah, we, at SCLegacy figured that out as well. In fact, 1000 was a hint given from Gifted. So, it could be that the beta will go live on the 1000th day and announced on the 999th day.

That makes it pretty conclusive for me that something will happen. I can't imagine the press conference, 1 day before the 1000-day-announcement being a simple coincidence.

Hence the mayhem going on in other forums .... Why in the hell is it so quiet here? Where have the regulars gone?

It does seem quite, but the SCLegacy thread is ridiculous.

I'm reminded of the furor shortly before the actual announcement of StarCraft II, and the April 2009 info. In both cases, there was smoke with the fire, but also lots of misinformation. (Lots of early May 2007 rumors claimed Blizzard would announce "World of StarCraft".)

Also, we may be tired of getting our hopes up. While I have no doubt something important relating to StarCraft II will happen in February, it need not have anything to do with beta.

I'm not that thrilled either to be honest. Even if they do announce beta I won't care that much, it would only mean we get to see more battlereports. It really depends on whether you want SC2 for the SP or MP - I can imagine the people who want the MP are much more eager for beta than the SP (myself) people are.

    I'm here. :)
Thanks for all those infos. As Kimera757 said we are tired with all those infos, real or wrong. We all want the release of the beta before the release of this game.
It seems that Blizzard already chose some beta testers. We got some names (from the traduction in the first page of this thread).
    Two questions :
    - Has Blizzard already given all the beta keys to all their testers ?
    - What are the conditions to become a beta tester (except of being more than 15 years old) ?
Blizzard looks at the best players in battle.net, but that's not all.
