Request: Wider Pages

I am currently looking at this site on a monitor with an aspect ratio of 4:3 and one thing that irks me is the fact that the site leaves empty space on either side of the posts. Also the new sidebar takes up room that was previously used for viewing threads. Due to the fact that it can be opened and closed it really screws with formatting and takes away space from the posts. Threads that have had banner images added now have to resort to side scrolling now and that looks incredibly bad and is on the list of major formatting mistakes.

Would it be possile to move the sidebar over to the edge of the screen and reclaim our posting area? I understand that it would be bad to have to redo all the framework images so you could just move them a little to the left and have the sidebar float on the background and when the sidebar closed the forum with just center itself.
