Release Speculations 2011?

I wouldn't be surprised if SC2 was pushed to 2011 knowing Blizzard's history releasing their games. I read a WoW blog last night and someone there mentioned that SC2 might be pushed to 2011. Logically it is possible since Blizzard is releasing Cataclysm (WoW expansion) in 2010 and I've never EVER witness two releases of Blizzard products in one year (correct me if I was wrong).

Please prove me wrong.....

 

I don't think that Cataclysm will be release so soon. I thin'k is 2010 Starcraft 2 and 2011 or 2012 WOW CATA.

 

You've also never seen all three main franchises having a major game to show at a BlizzCon. nor has there ever been a time before where Blizzard had this many projects so far into development.

Blizzard is a much bigger company than they used to be. Cataclysm's release has absolutely jack squat to do with the release of StarCraft 2. The development teams might as well be four separate companies who simply share a few leads.

Blizzard is no longer using the same production pipeline that they used when they were a tiny company. After the success of the monstrous behemoth known as WoW, they moved forward forever.

 

seeing as Blizzard's new plan is to release a WoW expansion each year, not releasing because of a WoW expansion sounds like a very very stupid busisness plan.

And with the time Blizzard announced Starcraft 2 (since 2007) it would be very nasty from them to release CATA before SC2. CATA was announced in 2009. No, it's time now for SC2 to come out, even if there are different teams working on different projects and who use their own speed of development.

Yes, we can wait until December 31 of this year 2010, at 11:59 PM for the official release. But it stays for this year anyway.
Please, don't mention that on Dec 31 all shops are closed.

 

I'm pretty confident Blizz had said they plan 2 releases this year. So that would be SC2 and Cata considering the other options are D3 and the unannounced MMO. Hell, I think they even said it specifically would be SC2 and Cata in 2010.

 

On the subject of release speculations:

On Thursday the 11th of Februari 2010, StarCraft2 will have been announced exactly 1000 days ago - I'll leave the speculating to you.

I do not think anything will be released that early - but it would be a nice day for some SC2 beta info. Again, not that that's going to happen.

I would really like it for sc2 to be released in 2010. We waited for a while now.

The only reason why SC2 wasn't released in 2009 was because of Battlenet upgrade issues. It happens.

 

This, I agree, I hope the Beta starts later this month or in February.

 

Cataclysm is said to have just gone into friends and family alpha. In the past, there's been about seven months difference between F&F alpha and the beta. From there, there's a few months for beta testing. Therefore, Cataclysm will most likely be released in 2011. If it does come in 2010, it will almost surely not be as early as the summer or spring.

 

If the Alpha testing takes 7 months, then WoW will be released for Christmas. They're not gonna spend 5+ months on a beta.

As for SC2, the Beta was supposed to start in Oct-Nov '09, but got some problems due to the new Battlenet system, afaik. I find it highly unlikely that SC2 is being released in the fall or winter, let alone 2011.

 

While Blizzard is looking for solutions for batle.net 2.0 the devs are continuing to improve this future game. Logically as they go ahead in its development (and tests of balances) they will need less months for the beta tests as they do them themselves.

 

Says who? Santa? You can't possibly predict what will happen when this game goes into beta. It's the next incarnation of the most balanced game of all time. I *think* that this stuff might just take longer then expected.
