I'm excited, but I wonder where they play to go with it. Really campy, like Red Alert 2, or more serious, like the original?

Can't believe they decided to revive the franchise after so long, but it looks pretty good. Does anyone know who the developers are btw?

That game has already been anounced ages ago. I think they will go back to the original style, since the super cartoony graphics are gone. I like that, since the original defined how a good rts should be like, while part two and the add-on were less innovative. However, I think the units in the sequal were much more fun to use. By the way, since ea has the licence now the will probably doing this one themselves, since it is such a big and important game.

Anyway, it's kind of strange Japan is a new faction. It makes sense, in the context of WW2, but they are kind of a late entry, especially considering Korea was in the game (RA2).

 

Red Alert is History on drugs and the previous title is the last (serious)defender of the 2 faction RTSes. Hell the expansion got the Yuri Faction!

It is anything BUT serious, they have the Tiberium Timeline for that. I mean you could strap bombs to mind controled cows, what´s not to love?

Also it isn't a beta key itself its just a code that adds you to the beta queue. you might not be allowed in till the last week of the beta if you sign up too late

Why don't you try searching youtube Shadowdragon? I searched for "C&C Red Alert" and got dozens of movies, even some of complete (campaign) levels being played. Here is the link to my search: link

not much like my starcraft 2 cravings, but i also am excited for this.

 

I'm a bit dissapointed with the direction of the storyline, although the story behind the Red Alert universe was always a bit poor, so I can't quite comment on that. (I.E. the Soviet Conscript uses an AK-47 as main weapon, but if Hitler was erased from history and WWII as we know it would never take place, he never would have given his designers the commission to develop the StG44 which the AK-47 is modelled from)

Besides that, though. I think the whole base-building idea on water and the closer emphasis on naval combat is quite nice. I just hope the Empire of the Rising Sun (can't they just call it Imperial Japan?) won't get all too silly, as I just read the article from PC Gamer about them getting an anime-styled schoolgirl with weather powers as an actual unit.
