Here is an email from Jung assistant community manager who works with Karune from Blizzard: Source 1 And another statement from blizzard Source 2 Sadly i couldnt really find a Battle.net post reguarding the subject so im going by what these 2 fansites stated. Oh well, i really hope we get to test out the map editor, but im glad the system requirements arent so harsh!. those were insane! -Seradin
I will keep an eye on b.net forums from now on. These fake news articles really are starting to piss me off. What was that site that tracks blue posts again?
Yeah, you can never really trust these fansites who say they have information from Blizzard. Sc2pod.com its very handy. I dont believe anything unless its cited with a direct blizzard website post/article.
If they would just make an official announcement thread on b.net or something. That would be handy. Just suscribe to it, and you get official news. Oh well, probably to 'normal' for Blizzard. Thanks for the link, by the way.
I knew the system requirements were fake since when I checked the article that supposedly said you would need a 9800GT to run medium and it said nothing about a 9800GT. The map editor, however, is disappointing news.
False alarm on that. The Chinese site is reporting that Blizzard told them to remove the 9800GT comment shortly after putting it up but the webmaster maintains that Blizzard did actually tell them that.
this is confusin stuff.. i guess we wont know anything until blizzard releases the information or the beta comes out and we test it for ourselfs
Leord has made a comment on SCW.net's loss of credibility: http://sclegacy.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4426&postcount=9
Based on how Starcraft 2 looks and comparing it to Command and conquer Red alert 3 Graphics. I think i can run SC 2 with Medium or high settings. I can run Red alert 3 with normal game speed with medium settings whereas with high setting its slows down a bit .
RA3's models aren't as detailed as Blizzard's SC2. However, i love their environment mappings and depth in texture. I wish we could have something similar in SC2. As a result, the system requirements may be reduced since rendering an entire map is more taxing on the system. We may see a generous system requirements by beta, hopefully. I agree that it is dissapointing as the system requirements are quite steep concerning the map editor. Though without such requirements we may not be able to do things that otherwise can be done.
Yes you are right, Red Alert 3 Models aren't as detailed. But i have to say , the water on Red Alert 3 is amazing looking, hell if anything is slowing down my speed on that game its the Water. The water graphic on Medium will probably look even better then the Water on highest setting for SC 2 Anyway i think my computer can run SC 2.
