So I'm sure everyone knows about the cross game chat that's coming with bnet 2.0.
How many people know that it only works with Real ID friends and not regular friends?

In order to be a Real ID friend you must add each other using your email address, aka your bnet login, aka half of your account info. Giving out account info such as your sign in is apparently against WoW's EULA oddly enough.

It should also be noted that your real first and last name will be displayed to Real ID friends.

I understand all of that; as the real ID system is for real life friends and not so much guildies or clan mates. It does make what once sounded fantastic far less useful. Why limit cross game chat to Real ID friends?

One final ****ty note, you can not make yourself appear offline. So if you do trust your guildies enough, expect to be made to feel like a selfish asshole for playing SC2 when they need a tank for a random 5man you want nothing to do with. A blue has come out and said that Blizz has no intention of implementing an option to appear invisible (source is in the link).

The WoW community seems to be having a **** fit about it.

So what do you; the true "SC2 playin'" Blizz fans, feel about this?

I for one think this makes all those great new bnet features we were promised; not useless... no, but far from what they could be.

They are still experimenting with that, nothing is concrete yet, they are aware that people are not happy with the current state of the friends list.

Well, firstly I believe you should be able to hide your name if you want to.
Then do not blame the "selfishness" on Starcraft 2 and the new Bnet2.0 system. In WoW you can't set yourself to offline, only DND and AFK. So what do your guildies say about that?

@ Terror- What makes you think they are still experimenting with Real ID? I don't recall seeing somewhere in their FAQ saying that it is all subject to change.

@Lobster- I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. How did I "blame the "selfishness" on Starcraft 2 and the new Bnet2.0 system."?

They have already said this whole "Real ID" system is only in place alone right now because they want people to test the Real ID and Facebook adding.

You'll be able to add with names again at retail.

*EDIT* I am looking for the blue post again, but it's buried. If I come across it, I'll let you know.

If you part of a guild in WoW you have responsibilities. Being in a free guild is not a free ride. And so you have to tank or dps in a raid you don't want to be in for time to time. So what. I'm sure there would be other raids you do want to be in, that your fellow guildies do not want to be in. So just do your guild responsibilities and be a guild team member. And trying to play offline and avoid your guild responsibilities.

If you do not like these responsibilities, pick a new guild or don't be in a guild and just raid PUG. The choice is yours.

I see no need for an invisible status in WoW. If you really want to play invisible, join no guild, make sure you have left all chat channels so no one knows when you've logged in, and enjoy your lonely life in WoW. And while you're at it here's a hint:

Play a different game. WoW is a MMORPG for a reason. Multiplayer kind of means playing with other people. If you don't like that aspect of WoW, then I think WoW is really not the game for you.,
