Holy cow, able to build from multiple buildings at the same time? that's pretty frickin' sweet not to mention the unlimited unit seclection count
i hope the food count would be gigantic + huge maps..... or else i strongly disagree with unlimited selections (though at least byebye multihackers! cause now we all are! MUWHAHAHAHA >)
Nah, i played it just never noticed it. Most of the time the battles go far too quick to actually even realize it's there. Although i did play footies alot - maybe you just don't appreciate that it's in there until somebody tells you it is, lol
Battles in warcraft 3 don't go fast... you sit around for like 15-20 minutes killing creeps or whatever and then your two armies meet and whoever wins that generally wins. And most people don't scout so they just get whatever even if it isn't even remotely good against what the enemy has... in team games at least.
I don't enjoy WC3 fights as much as SC really....I like to blow things up I kinda like it when a battle takes more than 15 - 20 minutes though, it feels more epic to me, that's why i don't necessarily enjoy playing Fastest Map as much in SC multi
Warcraft 3 is much more defensively oriented, offensives are usually made only when there's an overwhelming unit advantage whereas in starcraft a single blind spot can COMPLETELY destroy you with no chance of recovery. Considering how wowed people are of the multiple building selection, I wonder why blizzard never bothered to patch up SC1 to upgrade its interface. I don't like unlimited unit selection though I do think it should be large enough to accommodate zerg armies. Having a tray of say 36 units is probably sufficient and wireframe overview would still be more or less visible. From looking at the interface from the screen shots I'd say the tray size is about that big too, though It is only partially filled.
:O i like shirija's idea, zerg should be able to select like 10000000 and the rest should be able to select like 1...
I'm pretty sure shirija didn't say that I do agree with shirija, however, unlimited selection would be bad, but more than 12 would be very good. I had high hopes when I saw the demo guy select 16 units, in two rows of eight, with a third empty row, and feel that 24 (if you filled the third row) or even 36, tops, would be great. I like being able to see the shield glows of Protoss and see damage as it is healed/repaired. Unlimited would ruin some of the micro'ing, especially if they introduced tabbing like WCIII. Imagine: Ok, have to get to my HTs, but they are after my Tempests, Colossi, Phoenixes, hero units, Mothership, Phase Prisms, and Star Relics. <Tab><Tab><Tab><Tab><Tab><Tab><Tab><Tab><Tab><Tab><Tab><Tab><Tab>*Dead*
i was exaggerating to make a point. You also are limited by hotkey amounts, and let's add more units to the mix also.
My guesses are that the building upgrade seen in the screenshot is where you get the shield upgrade for the marines, and possible other add-ons or abilities for the infantry.
