Re: POLL: Carrier or Tempest?

Carriers, not by much - just because they are classic and do not lack air shields. I also do not really like the name "Tempest.' On the other hand, I was getting used to the idea and would not mind if they end up un-scrapping it.

i kinda want a mix between them. i liked the strong ground shields and melee interceptors of the tempest, but i like the size, look, and air shield of the carriers. i voted carrier.

I will have to see the new Carrier in action before I judge. Otherwise, as of now, I actually prefer the Tempests. But you never know, the Carriers in the new engine might look even more kick ass.

 

the thing i want is them to be the normal protoss yellow, larger, and called tempest(same model as tempest)

 

I never particularly liked the Tempests look, seemed way too small... I guess I was always fond of the Carrier. Glad to see it coming back

I have decided to vote for the Carriers.
Simply put, like what Dustin Browder stated, Carriers are like a symbol of the Protoss. They shouldn't be axed whatsoever. And I would prefer the Carriers to be the captial ships instead of the stupid wannabe Warp Rays that are trying to replace them.

 

I won't vote before I see the new carrier. Tempest looks better, but they are too small and is weak against air. I don't like that.

 

I like the new look of the tempest too. And the ground shield thing is just to ballance it out. Fighting little tinny flyers like mutualisks are for pheonixes while tempests should take down weak groun units. Heavyily armored units should be left to warp rays. This is just to ballance the game out and show how you should mingle your air strike.
The only reason I don't like the new tempest is that it is smaller. Carriers are really big and bulky and kind of like the protoss capital ships. With the new mother ship it is supposed to be a super unit which used to be carriers. So they had to weaken the carriers a little. Tempest are supposed to be "Dark" like the stalkers. It looks like they are the Shakuras version of carriers. I want to see the carriers too though.

 

I liked the look of the tempest....but agree it seemed kinda lame to have no shields against air....makes no sense really...If the protoss made new ships why would they forget shields...

I think a good idea though for the carriers is perhaps give them a hardened shield against ground...kinda like a specail ability that you click on and it drains mana...add that on top of normal shields then it might be worth it...

 

I don't like the Tempest has no shields against air...

Anyway, I voted Carrier...to me they really made me feel like I was using something of the magnitude of like an aircraft carrier of our day...Tempest just didn't give me that feeling.....looks like the old feud between Battlecruiser and Carrier is still on!

 

Carriers have Intercepters
Tempest have Shuriken <<< the name shuriken doesn't even sound protoss-ish

i voted for carriers because the intercepters look cooler than the shuriken
