Seems like more units getting unlocked with 1 building then has ever been done b4. (correct me if im wrong) Being able to warp in stalkers? cant they already blink LOL. Soul Hunters SO DO NOT FIT THE PROTOSS THEME! Stealing souls? I can understand mind control but stealing souls? WTH now were brining religion into SC.... It seems the soul hunter would be good against swarming units... Dont the protoss already have High Templar + Archon (if they still have splash) + reavers + Collossus!!! HOW MANY COUNTERS DO THEY NEED AGAINST SMALL UNITS! -_- blizzard rethink ur hard counters and u got a gg
I don't see why the Tempest being vulnerable to air is such a big deal. It's weapons only attack ground units so anti-ground shields make sense. And to answer dreadnough, by warp in they mean build. All Protoss units and structures are pre-made elsewhere and then warped to the battlefield. I don't see how using/referencing souls in such a small way is religious; well maybe if you're athiest but even then... Anyway as they have said countless times everything is subject to change so nothing is set in stone.
blizzard never said that tempest cant attack air... also if 'souls' make you feel uneasy just think of it as energy, rofl
Has it been mentioned wether the Phase cannon is an upgrade to original Photon cannon or just a higher tier building?
thats probably the main reason why they didnt give it an air sheild, in sc1 players made the switch to carrier armies way to often
In the video (around :41), he said the soul hunter will counter smaller infantry units like the marine and medic... so will we see the medic in SC2?
You find that surprising? I know it wasn't confirmed or in any screens but it seemed very likely to me that it would be in the game.
eh well the marines did have an HP upgrade, and nothing is really confirmed yet either. Also the medic is a UED unit so you really never know if the medic was going to come back.
perhaps but there is no reason (technology wise) that only they could use medic. And losing the medic would mean no way to remove lockdown, parasites, etc. and blinding enemies. Unlike the valkyrie which could very well be scrapped, the medic just seems like a sure thing.
Im still pretty annoyed that the firebat is gone, but I suppose if the reaper can be equipped with flamethrowers he'll be almost as cool *sigh* *edit* Hm. So basically the tempest is the Protoss version of the Guardian. Mauls ground but gets raped by air. This is actually looking damn good. I'm a little iffy about the Soul Hunters they eerily remind me of prism tanks from Red Alert 2.
Right now, I'm just happy that the medic is sure to come back...that is one unit i just couldn't see being scrapped. Now...I wonder how the goliath is gonna go down...
I hope they make optical flare AoE affect because honestly in the first game I used it maybe once just to try it out. I didnt even know what it did the first time i used it. Figured the unit couldnt attack at all for a short duration.. just move.....
How do Shurikens attack? Are they gonna do gunshots like interceptors or melee-style slicing the target through?
From the game play video of tempest I think its basically gonna be the same way carriers attacked except the shurikens are melee. So you still get that swarm effect.
Hey guys just saw a new interview in gametrailers.com with Chris Sigaty (lead producer) it does not mention anything that we dont know (or figured out) already, but the most important point that he mentioned is that the game is waaaaay in the early stages of developement so u can expect that they'll be alot of changes to happen till the game is offically released... go check it out: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/22205.html ps. sorry if i dbl post the link
Hopefully, this means that players will no longer have to "construct" Shurikens within the Tempests as they had to do with Interceptors in Carriers. I would sure welcome the change.
Its been mentioned somewhere that the shruiken will be auto-buildable with a right click similar to warcraft 3. sorry cant remember where.. And i rekon the tempest looks cool... whats the big deal its weak against air.... the fluff is that with the destruction of auir they wanted it to be cheaper.... they zerg in sc1 had heaps of single attack type (air or ground only) units --in fact all the zerg cept lisks (muta and hydra) were only capable of attacking one type. why cant protoss have some too ?
Haha, I'm just hoping that they plopped a better engine in that baby ;D, cuz with a name like Tempest, it should be fast, right?
