For someone who watched it: When Beowulf comes to that country with Grendel infestation, is the only thing he says "I came to kill your monster" ?

I honestly don't get the point of hiring actors only to make everything CG

Well, see, it worked fine for The Polar Express. But that had Tom Hanks so it had to be good.

Imo it was good. It had a bit of something for everyone. Could have been worse... could have been full on animated.

Norse saga? Well, kind of... It's a really long poem (3183 lines) that is over a thousand years old. I heard a radio show about it yesterday and they said it was from the end of the 8th century. The events described take place in the late 5th century and early 6th century after the Anglo-Saxons had begun their migration into England.

From what I've heard, there isn't all that much similarites between the poem and the new film at all... I might see this one because of Angelina Jolie and Anthony Hopkins (he's a really great actor).

A little side-note: the story have been used as a guideline for how young princes should be raised.

Yea I really want to go and see it since I am sort of a scolar who like the Anglo-Saxons (no its not because of my religion so don't bother me on it, got it? good.) and for everyones conveniance it is called and EPIC (pretty much a poem describing heros in tragic situations, most are quite long and take about an hour or several hours to read aloud and thats pretty much what some people called scribes in the middle ages did). Beowolf is so famous because because it is the first (and some speculate the only) english epic from those times and no King Arthur was made after the middle ages inacuratly by a bunch of authors who made several different stories and eventually they all somehow got mixed up in one giant crappy story and AMAZINGLY became famous because of a bunch of stuck up people who didn't know what a quality plot line was. sigh........

For those of you who've watched the movie. Why is the tagline "Pride is the Curse" when it should be "Envy is the Curse" IMO since Denmark is screwed for centuries because the kings are frequently seduced by Grendal's mother to create a monster in every age.

Well, I read the whole poem before and the movie's taken quite a few liberties with it. I'm not sure about this movie. From some of the reviews I've heard it's really not that good.

    It's scholar XD

Anyhoo. I've read the story (I preformed a bit of it for my drama class).....And it's not really a BAD movie....I just expected more from one of the greater epics.

Hmm.. Seems like an interesting movie. Think i should ckeck it out since sci-fi and fantasy are my favorite genres. So you should be getting a pair of 3-D glasses too? Like the idea, to see how it plays out

I think it's a german legend. The name is in german too

Beowulf is a Saxon thing that got set about in England when the Saxons invaded England. From there it got translated into Anglo-Saxon.

That's true.. I stand corrected. Forgot that it was one of the many tribes.. It's a germanic folktale to be correct, as saxons and visigoths and all the other tribes in northern europe where germanic. It was not directly in german as I said before
