I don't understand the ranking system that well, but wonder how it works when you enter a match with a friend opposed to entering by yourself (if it changes at all)? I have a friend who I'll want to play with. Will we be able to enter games together and still be placed against teams of similar skill? Also, will we be able to enter a game w/ a random other player for 3v3, and still play against similar ranked players? EDIT: I'm saying that if I want to play 3v3, but only have 1 friend to team up with, can I play 3(Me, my Buddy, 1 random guy of similar skill) vs 3 in a ranked game so it's still evenly matched, or can I only play 2v2 If I'm playing with my friend?
I like that you bring this up because I am curious myself as to how all of this works. It seems like the rankiing system if SC2 has been one of those unsolved mysteries for me so far. As far as your question is concerned, I think that the placement matches take care of all of that
If you create a party and invite your friends in it, you can start Team QuickMatches and then I think it places you against players of the same skill. If you just join a custom game or something you can play against anyone. I'm not sure about the last question though, never tried it out.
My biggest thing is no matter what I play, I'd rather not be playing people who's just gonna steamroll me. I hope the ranking system works out well to make it more enjoyable for everyone.
The ranking system hasn't really worked out well for me. I'm in the Bronze league (lol), but every single match I've played so far has been at least favored against me. I've won about half of them. :/
Well that's good. Shows you're at least getting paired up pretty evenly. I just installed StarCraft 1 the other day, just to get the feel for it again. I haven't played StarCraft for about 8 years and the only RTS game I've played since then was Halo Wars (idk if that even counts). I jumped on StarCraft, and though I know how to play, I'll admit I'm a total noob. I get pwned every game, but I hope it's at least around 50/50 with the new ranking system.
