Since i plugged in SC2 I have always had random desktop crashes with errors. and just as of today I had a blue screen crash that I could could not get any information from. Reading through the forums, I have been able to get my diag, and a single crash report, both of which have been recent and are in one folder. Hope this is all the information you need. Thanks for any advice.
Do not attempt to play Starcraft II again with your current driver! This is about the time of the "overheating" issue that might toast your graphics card! You need to update that driver ASAP and read my FAQ on the nVidia overheating issue afterwords. If you update the drivers and still get something like this, just know that is probably unrelated to the BSOD's. We need to find out what temps your hardware is running at(so download HWMonitor, but to make sure we know what the BSOD is doing... we need to make it so you can see it if it happens again. Follow these instructs to "make the BSOD stay put" so you can read it: Open System Properties. To do that, simply press Windows_logo_key+break/pause. Click Advanced System Settings on the left. Make sure "Advanced" tab is selected and then select Statup and Recovery's "Settings..." Make sure "automatically restart" is unchecked! You will want it to look something like this! Click okay to get out, close all your Windows. If you get another BSOD, you should be able to see it now. After you see what the error is (normally near the bottom, don't worry about all the 0a35C hex code stuffz) hold your power button down for a few seconds until your machine shut off.
Okay I hopefully downloaded the driver correctly for 256 notebooks, through the URL you gave me. I also read the FAQ for Nvidia Users and added the two lines to my variables. I also managed to download the HWmontior, but i'm curious about this. It doesn't seem like its a program, but almost like a website with all the info on it. Is this something I keep open and always running? or is it a program that i just close and open it when ever i need to? Also, I uncheck'd the auto restart for my BSOD Just to make sure the BSOD you refer to is blue screen of death correct? Would i also have to put up another diag to make sure everything is good? Thanks again
yeah, download the HWMonitor program from that site and install it. It will let you monitor your hardware temps. If your cards been overheating it may have brunt up all of the thermal grease on the graphics chip, which means if the temps are too high, the chip will still have issues with BSODs (yes it means exactly what you think). Yeah, go ahead and post another dxdiag, we can check it to make sure everything is good.
I did "download" the monitor program, and i did have it up and running. cores 0-3 where running at about 40%. But the thing is, i can't find it anywhere on my comp, making me think it was just a website program not a downloadable program. I'll try again and see what i come up with, now should i run this at all times? if so, if i do crash(which has not happened since), will it record info so "i" can Diag. what happened? or does it just read current levels?
