Question on referrals

I know that new members can get referred here, and we get vb points for that. But there should be a code that automatically fills in your name and stuff.

Like this:

arandomforumname.com/forums/index.php?referrerid=123456

You can then place an userbar in your signature with a link to this sort of link, and when people then register, you get credit for it.

Anyone can use them (and alter the sizes), just pm me you did to boost my ego a bit. ;) The last one is a link because of the image limet we have here. (PLEASE remove that and just punish people who abuse it or something.)

I would rather not think about me referring someone here and them forgetting to put my name in the field so this is a good idea. I don't know anything about web so I don't know if it can be done easily.

I still had these lying around, so I just posted them as examples. I think that Jon made one with the -2- logo once, not sure.

And the idea was not so much to earn the points, I just want to know if these userbars actually have any effect. Would be nice to see if members of this site can get more people to join in.

 

I made a handful of userbars back in the day actually, I dunno if Jon made one

But the logo for Strarcraft 2 is kinda hard to incorporate when you are trying to squeeze it into a userbar 19 pixels high

Anyway, I now for sure this is possible. I have already encountered it on other sites. Like I said: maybe it gets the community a bit more involved in getting members here. AND if more links to this place are on other sites, the pagerank of the site goes up in search engines like google.

A referral link would be very handy and the userbars are pretty.

but replace "XXX" with your userid, which is the number you see when you mouse over link on your username.

 

I was gonna say... isn't this already possible?

 

Thanks LK. I thought the referralnumber wasn't exactly the same as the member id. And it isn't explained anywhere on the site as far as I know.
