    Now I'm sure to some this situation sounds comical, and maybe I was nothing short of an idiot for falling into it.. But it felt like a classic PvZ match where I walled myself in with my gateway and cybernetics core with a zealot out to close the gap. Started to build my base up, teching to robo n forge, get my economy going, sentry second unit etc etc. Minor scouting shown ineffective by lings.

    I noticed - admittedly late - him building a hatchery outside of my base, but I was in no position to push him off so I stayed in my base. Spine crawlers were halfway when I had 4 zealots sent out to attack. I was under the assumption that letting him get the crawlers operational would be GG. My forge was not up yet. (I think at least)

    I was met by a mass wave of lings and athough I got a few out of the way the second wave had clear access at my base.

    In the score screen I noticed his economy was minority impacted. Zerg who don't go mass roach or hydralisk have been giving me trouble in general so I'm not sure what to do. Do I need to plan for a forge by principle? Or is there a well rounded starter when fighting Zerg and when do I know what structure to build when I scout? (I've grown custom to robo for roach counter, scouting, or prism harass). And in particular the match I mentioned, was there anything unique I should have done for a counter?

    Heh I've been seeing root Destiny do this with some success. The key factor here is your 2nd gas. If you can get that early, you can win the game just by getting 2-3 VRs. Completely deny drone scouting to prevent their steal.
