So I was thinking about a build that is like this against MM + tank + banchees 50% zealot 25% sentry 20% immortal rest% collosis However, I propose an alternate build to that instead of collosis and 20% immortals, how about 50% zealot 25% sentry 25% immortal + phoenixes you'd have your Air support against banchees. Since you already have a robo, just pop out a few observers. if there aren't any banchees and more tanks, use the phoenixs to go behind the group and snipe them off with gravitational beam while your zealots, sentry, and immortals pound away at the marines and marauders. any thoughts on this composition?
That could work. It would take quite a bit of micro though. The immortals would be great since the hardened shields allows them to take a beating so they wouldn't get obliterated by the tanks. A good tip to using the sentries is to cut off part of the enemy armies at the choke with a force field. This way, you can draw the MMs back to clear the zealots from the tank's range. If they push early though, you may want to put some stalkers in there. Blink them over to the siege tanks so they are to close to be shot. A decent amount of stalkers can put a hurtin' on tanks.
Yes, phoenixes are extremely effective against both tanks and banshees. Although if the opponent also has some thors or vikings, it might be better to get void rays instead.
I just get a few void rays and snipe the tanks, 4 is good wth upgraded speed. If you get lucky you can get the voidies charged up and then you can start punishing those annoying marines
Phoenixes are extremely OP en masse. The only downside they have is their lack of energy (can't pick up that many ground units) and can't actually do any damage to the enemy structures. But can make 'em hurt, that's for sure.
You might also want to try using Templar in that army mix. Your templar could be used to Use Storm on your opponents MM group and you can also use the High Templar to Feedback the Banshees, Medivacs or Ghosts they may bring along. The High Templar allow a lot of flexibility for that so even a few can be deadly as feedback has very long range and can insta kill banshees, ghosts and medivacs (if they have enough mana) as well as storm devastating any massed M&M
The best thing about siege tanks? Splash. The worst? Splash. Parking those immortals next to the MM ball helps.
