Over at IGN, they have posted pictures of both the Terran and Protoss Tech Trees. This is the Protoss one, check it out at http://pcmedia.ign.com/pc/image/article/810/810680/blizzcon-2007-protoss-and-terran-tech-trees-20070803094136262.jpg.
Nope, it shows in red and white the names of the units that are built by each building. Look closer...
sheild battery has been out for a while. the thing i hate about this tree is its SC1 with 2 different buildings and a renamed one. twilight council and dark obelisk is new, and null circuit is a renamed observatory.
did anyone actually ever use the shield battery? I'm glad it's gone. It'd be nice to have something shiny and new in it's place though. Something actually useful.
I used shiled batteries quite often. They're uber arbiter aid when defending your base with invisible units (and the Arbiter is the main target). You need them to keep the arbiter alive and the army invisible. And scout raiders too. they go and return to refill their shileds in the batteries quite frequently. Without them, Protoss raiding will surely suffer. A great asset to Protoss force. However, just to mention it, now a P vs. P cannot go straight to Starport anymore. If you do that, with undetecting cannons, you will be allowing a DT rush in your base, as nothing in this direction will spot the DTs while they wreck your base. Meanwhile, the ships will be visible, even with the mother ship, because the Dark Obelisk of the Dt itself is a detecting facility. Thus, on P. vs. P., you'll need to go either till Null circuit and take a defensive stance with observers, or go till Dark Obelisk, and play the same as your foe. That if we count regular land access base, that the Dark templars could reach. Otherwise the observer's way might be more tempting.
