For me playing protoss was all about the race defences, i always build tons of the turrets to protect my base, now i have come up with a combonation in SC2 that can help my defences, basicy its this, if you are in a base with one entry point for ground units besides drop ships put up turrets in a upside down v formation pointing downward to that place, then build colossus's and place them in between the turrets and around the base, dont forget to build some turrets behind you crystals to protect from incoming drop ships. also build a group of immortals to take care of any siege tanks that might come and bombard your turrets.
Yup. Pretty much. I wonder if they have longer range than Phase Cannons? (I seriously doubt it, but I still wonder...)
well one day i will prove your strategy, but i still think the protoss need a new defense building, terran have bunkers, aa turret, rail gun turrets, detector dome (i dont recall the name righ now), and of curse, their all usefull tanks, thors, supply depots, upgraded command center, damn! thats a lot of defense!, so i strongly believe protoss at least one new defense building.
Blizzard said they want terrans to be more defensive, Protoss more strong, and Zerg more cheap. So maybe they won't give the Protoss additional defence.
Hm turrets and Colossus... Do you think the Colossus will be able to step over certain buildings and make it more manouverable (sp?) Damn that would be nice. I'm thinking stepping over defence structures and other buildings that are relatively small - phase cannon, pylon, bunker, radar dome, missile turret, supply depot, add-on buildings. If they can step over units in their current state I woldn't think implementing this would be too much of a hassle.
Well very simple question for me, you just warp more photon cannons inside your base, in order for you to have a good Defence Strategy. And then you can now create strong Army,. Thats all. PEACE
Okey let me explain, imagine, there are too many Zerglings are prepared to attack your base, well, the good effect of having a more photon cannons inside your base is a big deal for then, isn't those Zerglings in Starcraft 1 are very weak against our base, hahahaha ;D im wrong before i mistaken from typing i just type Pylons, hahah ^_^ no sorry its Photon cannons oh man im confusing, that why more Photon Cannons inside the base PEACE
what? what are you talking about massing the same defensive structure means that it will lack aganst certain units, we are talking about making a totally different protoss/zerg defence that is tier 2(like siege tank) or something.
What in that strategy prevents players from ignoring the choke altogether and just dropping in away from the choke and the minerals? What would stop Colossi, Stalkers, Reapers, and Warp-In from occurring at places that are away from your centralized defense?
Also, using this new cannon moving thing you can put some extra ones inside your base and when you need to replace some dmged ones in the frontal defense or backward defense just move them and whatnot also your gona want some Phase prisms incase a pylon gets out of commision but usually if your pylons are back enough they wont be destroyed because of the defence being mainly frontal and if the air flys around your defence you could always move some cannons to face them like the ones that are extra, just incase or if your really rich lol just build cannons all along your base but that takes a ton of minerals. Also i think the upgrade to the protoss defenses was the movement of the cannons but i would love to see like a building that shoots a beam simular to the warp ray but its more powerful and stationary that shoots flying targets and maybe large ground targets. For Colossus attacks i would probably approach them from the side, stepping up onto a platform and then wiping out there builders if its by that or just there military at best, and stepping down to avoid fire and whatnot. head againts there turrets first then once those are done any air targets and then marines probably would have a combo of Colussus's for ground targets and warp rays for air targets.
