Predator a rip off?

By cobbling together the jedi starfighter from 2 and from 3, I have made the Terran Predator... HMMMM blizzard HMMMM

 

Is that unit up in the corner of your picture the actual Terran Predator?

 

Yeah! I guess you just figure it out, didn't you? lol I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out this is the way they created the predator. I have no doubt that might exactly been the way they did it. As they say: nature ain't that creative. Everything you make is somehow a copy of something you saw on the past. And merging two known things is the best way to find new designs and stuff. I wouldn't condemn them. Specially if you've just reverse engineered it. ;-) How did you get this idea?

 

While the pictures do look really similar i think you need to add in some X-wing to make them nearly identical but it is a nice little coincidence. (im not implying blizzard stole anything i actualy think its a nice coincidence)

 

There is so much space/adventure/fantasy/etc. type stuff out there that anything 'new' you create is bound to look like something else. I bet that this is no different.

 

I totally agree. Infact, ever see Starship troopers? Ever notice those insects are allot like the zerg?

Exactly! Just like how the Banshee is essentially a rip off of the GDI Orca fighter from the Command and Conquer series... people rip off each other all the time...

Well, the jedi starfighter is a complete rip off of a space ship on Babylon 5, hmmm the plot chickens, i mean thickens...

 

anyway i just hope that the predator fires lasers not missiles.

 

lol eveything has been done so it's not unusual for stuff to look very similar. that's what happens when everyone is influenced by the same mass culture.

Well, what if they made a starship that looked like a letter from the alphabet? That would certainly be a new design. lol

Well your image is very subjective, after viewing the Terran Predator and how it looks like, it is quite easy to piece similar things together to form what you have seen. But if they did combine two Star Wars fighters, who would not have? Star Wars was revolutionary and a lot of people can easily associate things with the pop culture phenomenon that is Star Wars (Perhaps a subtle way to attract Star Wars fans? LoL).

Remember the A-Wing, X-Wing, and Y-Wing fighters from Star Wars? I think they fit the bill quite well.

 

the A wing is clearly a rip off of the fighter in Asteroids, the original badass fighter.

 

heh, i just noticed it is farmiliar, but i don't really mind it. i mean, it does look badass. BTW, i'm pretty sure the reaver is the most creative unit so far. i'm not sure any other rts had a unit that created the weapons by them and was a giant slug beast.
