I have been asking myself this for awhile now. I know that I will go right to online play, won't even think of touching single player, and I definitely want it ASAP, but Im not sure the pre-order price is worth it...

I plan to just wait. School's store doent even sell PC games, so I'd have to walk for 30 min to the nearest store to find a place to reserve one.

wait for it to come out.

we dont even know when the release date is. plus the cost to pre-order it is high. i consider any games to be higher then $50 to be too high, and 50 is pushing it too.

I'm gonna just wait. When the release date is released by Blizzard, then I'll pre-order it. I'm not gonna pre-order something that no-one knows when it's gonna come out.

Wait. Pre-ordering pretty dangerous when you consider blizzards history of pushing back release dates, plus its not worth the extra cost, if they sell out they'll have more very soon.

  7. If Wrath Of The Lich King can sell 2.8 million practically overnight and I can still walk into Best Buy and see an entire area reserved for it with 30-40 boxes then StarCraft II will not be hard to get on release day from any retail/online store. Therefore, I'm not pre-ordering. I don't see any benefits unless there's some pre-order goodies :)

I'll probably pre-order it, but only a week or two before release date. That way I can be almost sure it won't get pushed back. All the stores around here apply the pre-order price to the cost of the game. So if you pay $10 buck when you preorder, and the game is $50, then you will only have to pay $40 when you pick up the game. To be honest I do it more for the excitement that comes from knowing the game is there waiting for me then because I'm worried they will sell out. I went in to the store the day before Spore came out, for another reason, but saw it was coming out the next day so I pre-ordered, even though they had at least 50 copies of the pre-order case left, so I knew they wouldn't be selling out.

I have the opposite reasoning as Tychus I guess, there isn't a reason not to pre-order, when the date is close anyways, I understand you can get screwed if they push the release date back, but why waiting till the end you can safely avoid that happening. So why not pre-order as they often do include something extra.

I want to pre-order but I'm afraid that my money will not be worth that. Besides, I could just get it on the day of the release. I just hope they release it on a non-school day. Also, all those people who pre-ordered Starcraft II way early in development got themselves duped out of the entire game by the trilogy change.

  10. 1) I strongly disagree.
    2) Most pre-order sites don't charge until it ships... atleast the legit ones.

    I'll buy it.

The only way I'll pre order it informally (eg personally going to the store and asking them to reserve it for me), and only when the beta test is drawing to a close and Blizzard actually announces the release date.

    Hell yea!

Well, I am definately going to preorder it. And the Special Edition one too. Yes I am 100% sure SC2 will have a special edition... and if you remember what happened to WOTLK, all special editions were sold out in PREORDERS in days after release date announced.

Starcraft > Warcraft... IMO and if you feel that way too, I suggest as soon as you hear the release date announce, PREORDER! Of course if you don't care about special editions, don't worry because there will more than likely be a store near you with a copy, Just you having the hastle of having to go find it on the day of launch is a pain.

I fully intend to just walk up to a store and buy it. The only time I had trouble doing that was when I got the release date for a game wrong, and showed up before the store got their first copies.

I don't expect many areas to have stocking issues with this game, so it really isn't necessary to preorder it.

  17. Oh, of course, if you're going for the Special/Limited/Collector's editions you should definately pre-order. This is where it being a Blizzard game works the opposite. Blizzard Special/Limited/Collector's never last long, but standard editions last pretty much forever with no shortages. To this day I can't walk into any retail store without tripping over StarCraft or Diablo Battle Chests.

Just wait and buy it on a store .... I wanna make the queue to the store to have the "honor" to buy it. Hope to meet a Blizzard representative in the shop.

    Who knows ? :)

Come to Brussels please Blizzard :D

Limited Editions are a totally different story. You know it, I know it, we all do :).

And what extra cost. None here. Just a $5-$10 deposit. Which is taken of the final price of the game when you get it. And if it's majorly delayed you get to keep the above or cancel and get your deposit back. And as a bonus they ring you to say "please pick up your preorder.
