"Praetor Artanis"

Artanis is praetor in the Protoss Defense Forces and at two hundred and sixty two year old[3] he is the youngest templar to achieve this rank[3]. An ambitious leader, Artanis holds Tassadar in high esteem and despite being a strong believer in the Conclave[3] the young Protoss also holds strongly to the idea of reunification with the dark templar. Initially appearing in Brood War, Artanis is voiced by Jack Ritschel[9] and pilots a scout-class starfighter in-game.

Through Episode IV of Brood War, Artanis works with Zeratul and Judicator Aldaris to evacuate the Khalai Protoss to Shakuras and defend the world from the Zerg, receiving unexpected aid from Sarah Kerrigan, but becomes furious at Kerrigan's true motives for being on Shakuras and her killing Aldaris[10]. Despite knowing that destroying the Zerg and its Cerebrates on Shakuras will only strengthen their rival Kerrigan, Artanis and Zeratul activate the Xel'Naga temple on Shakuras[10], annihilating the Zerg on the surface. Artanis does not appear again until the end of the game, in which he commands a fleet to bring Kerrigan to account[11] over the deaths of Aldaris, Fenix, Raszagal and all the crimes she has committed against the Protoss people, but his forces meet defeat despite outnumbering Kerrigan's standing forces. Returning to Shakuras and separated from Zeratul, Artanis and the Protoss survivors begin to rebuild their civilization [12]. In the StarCraft 64 mission Resurrection IV, Artanis enlists the aid of Jim Raynor to de-infest Alexei Stukov on Braxis[13], destroying the planet's surface afterwards[13].

At Blizzcon in August 2007 it was revealed that Artanis holds the rank of hierarch and thereby is effectively the leader of the reunified Protoss race in StarCraft II, but is still struggling with reintegrating the two estranged branches of his people [14].

In your head
Probably will since him and Zeratul are the only remaining Protoss heroes, but I don't want him to. I never really liked Artanis.

It has been specifically stated by blizzard that Artanis will be in the game. In the Protoss campaign, you will play as either Artanis or Zeratul (undecided as of blizzcon).

ZERATUL > ARTANIS

for the shadows of Aiur!

19. Zeratul is better than artanis. Artanis is just a generic protoss, hes boring.
I hope theyll give Artanis some clothes when he comes back
They should have a new hero in SC2 tassadar's son,Tassadar Jr. who will be like like tasadar in every way.
It would also be cool if they had an archon hero, that could be made from Artanis so he wouldnt really exist anymore, because he is the lamest of all the heros after the advisor.

In the cinematics and opening loading screen why are Artanis and Zeratuls eyes black and not glowing, It looks dumb and Blizzard should never do it again.

@AdmiralAckbar: In SC:BW Artanis barely have had any battlefield experience, unlike Tassadar. Now 4 years have passed, and he's pretty much the ruling force of the Protoss now that:

1: Tass is dead.
2: Fenix is dead.
3: Zeratul is out Hybrid-hunting.
4: Aldaris got pwnt.
5: Razsagal is dead.

Yeah, i can agree. Artanis was lame - his appearance was lame, his voice was all rookie and lame, even his unit was lame (Scout... wtf??). Hopefully he'll be ridin' a beefed up Phoenix this time, with some serious battle experience backing him up.
