A friend of mine got the orange box, and I tried out that mysterious game named Portal, where you can shoot portal on wall to resolve puzzle. The story is so twisted and it makes me want finish it in one shot ( what I've done after 2h30 of intense gaming) My favorite moment is the level where you are given the Weighted Companion Cube ;D
..... Dude don't go talking to me about portal. I bought the orange box to but I can't play portal, team fortress 2 (omg i want to play these so bad) or half life 2 episode 2 (This even more) becuase like it says I need atleast direct x 8 and I have windows xp which comes with 8.1 and I download direct x and it still doesnt work so yeah I'm all upset :upset: and very very sad about not being able to play these 3 mega awesome games.
True portal has quite a bit of humor in it, mainly the half way insane robot thing that talks to you during most lvls.
My favourite moment was when I was about to get (become?) cake and I had to ............................ (no spilers ) And all the advanced chambers. It just feels like you're insulated from the outside world in a test lab for the sole purpose of testing their device and highlighting its advantages and drawbacks. All the levels radiate that coldness through the colours and the layout, it's just awesome ;D However, I was looking like :upset: when I completed it (including the advanced chambers - challenges don't look too interesting for me). I want a multiplayer part where you can speed up companion cubes to throw at your opponent or go through a perfectly symmetric level to see who is the fastest of the two and all other game modes that you can think of. It's just ridiculously short in it's current state.
I had been looking forward to Portal since the original trailer was released (last year?) and, while the gameplay was what I expected, the story and environment blew me away. I am currently a bit of a Portal fanatic. I've committed the end credits song to memory. I am currently learning how to use the Hammer editor to make my own Portal maps. I intend to buy the Weighted Companion Cube paperweight that they've confirmed will be made available... as soon as it is available. If you listen to the game's commentary, they seem pretty sure that there is going to be a sequel. Now this is good news! But with all of that... I can't say I can decide on a favorite moment. It's all too good!
Portal is awesome, but levels are not so hard... Finished it in two days... By the way, something familliar I saw in Prey, with difference I couldn't make portals by myself.
The Orange Box is out!? hmm.. never knew ;D I think Portal looks great! and i heard it has 24 levels altogether right? My favorite moment is the first tune on the trailer it sounds like an RPG game ^_^......
Well, 19 average-length levels, 1 really, really long level, and some variations of some of the other levels made to be more difficult. I've been teaching myself how to use the Hammer editor to make my own levels for the game, and I've downloaded several of other people's maps. They have some stuff that requires strategies that aren't required in the main game.
Everyone has mentioned the cubes, so I will say the feminine turrets that speak in happy voices while shooting at you. and take a look at the second comic strip down on www.roosterteeth.com he's a cube lol
The final fight with GLaDOS is my favourite part of the game by far "Oh, you think you're doing some damage?! 2+2 is… 10… in base four, I'm fine!"
