cavez about warp-in and how it works:
    - You build Gateways.
    - You purchase the Warp-In upgrade on the Cybernetics Core.
    - You select your Gateways and transform them into Warpgates. This is extremely fast.
    - You may select your Warpgates and transform them back into Gateways (also fast) any time you want. You would mostly do this if you wanted to reduce your Macro and rely on queues. Skilled players never go back to Gateways once they have Warpgates.

Now that you have Warp Gates:
    - Select a Warpgate.
    - Select a unit to build.
    - Target anywhere within a power radius.
    - Unit begins to warp-in where you selected.
    - Warp-In is very fast.
    - Unit is vulnerable during the warp-in process and can be killed before the warp-in is complete.
    - Warpgate must now "cooldown" with a time equal to the build time of the unit created before it can warp-in again.

That's how it works right now. In games it is extremely effective with Immortals and Dark Templars though I have seen it used with everything at one time or another. Dustin Browder

now what do you find? is it usefull or is it needless

isnt this the 100000 topic about warpgates?
Its usefull, easy to get troops to the battle with phase-prism energy field (or what it is called)
Very usefull for pros, they have the APM that is needed for 10 gates :D, this is one of the things that adds more macro to SC2, where other things removes...

I thought the unit started warping in in the same way as with gateways except that the warp gate handles rally points differenly (i.e., places the unit there instead of ordering the unit to move there after warp-in).
If I'm wrong and it works the way you posted it then warp-in is either really fast compared to the 'regular' build time or it's the same and makes the unit vulnerable for the whole build time. In the first case warp-in would be overpowered while in the second case it'd be a pain in the *rse and would rarely be used.

    I'm confused now.

The description provided is accurate. The build time, from the build command to the unit being active on the battlefield, is very close to zero. The Warp Gate has to charge back up, a time equal to the unit's build time, before it can place any more units or convert back to a Gateway.

Remember that Blizz wants everything in SC2 to feel overpowered, unfair. It's allowed to be, because all of the OP from one race or unit is countered by the OP of another. It makes it really intense.

Also... you have the fact that you can't queue units for warp-in, and you have to research the upgrade...

So... if you see something that seems to be unfair, it's probably exactly what they were going for!

...Anyway, in my opinion, warp-in is the single coolest new thing to SC2.

Oh so there's actually no build time in the classic sense but the warp gate becomes inactive for as long as the unit's build time after the unit's been placed.

ps furrer if it was my post that you didn't understand then don't worry, it's not your fault :D This seems to be a crazy week for me when I have trouble expressing my jumbled thoughts.

    @ Kuvas

YES however due to the cool down it will take the same ammount of time for a single warp gate to produce multiple units as the gateway. The difference is the delivery of the unit.

Think of it as when you use a gateway to make a zealot the zealot has to move to the gateway then be dropped on the battlefield. With the warpgate the zealot is already there so when you ask for him he is deposited on the battlefield the the wapr gate fetches the next zealot.

I like warp in but I think there should be a warp out as well to move the forward units back to your base
