when banelings are borrowed, they will have an activatable ability to blow up
so it is more of like a spidermine but then one can choose whether to activate it or not

    so what do you think?

I like it. It's not like they do the kind of massive damage a Spider Mine would do, or chase units, but the the idea of a Zerg minefield to add to their defenses is interesting.

that'd be cool... and i see how it could be usefull. lureing them there and waiting for them to go over... sort of like with lurkers. immagine... banelings with dark swarm.

    Re: New Banelings Idea

 I like the idea, similar to how some people used to burrow infested terrans and wait for enemy forces to come along hehehe...

I think I'm gonna call banelings "dirt-scourge" or "ground-scourge;" not all the time, but every so often to spice things up and not overuse "blings" (what's the other name we gave them? there was one more but I forgot it)

i'm pretty sure blizzard won't do this for starcraft though... they didn't do it with the infested. starcraft is more of like... do it urself-ish.... Perhaps it will in warcraft though... they tend to do it for u.

    Re: New Banelings Idea

wouldn't it be fun to have more uses to banelings?

Marines: (charging for the Hatchery with stimpack) ahh yah, at least we killed all of those weak zerglings.
Banelings: (burrowed banelings right under the marines) huh you think so? for the OVERMIND!!!
Boom! lots of red stuff appears on the ground, the end!

    go baneling mines

Good idea! :good: But wouln't it be easier if borrowed banelings can't explode. And when there's some units right over the banelings, manually unborrow them and BOOM!

Baneling Mines sounds like a Terran like Baneling.

well they would need to unburrow right before they explode for this to work otherwise it would be very imba

you're correct, i'd prefer the ability to control when they explode. How about we just allow them to burrow then. just another situation where we need to choose to micro and require user skill as opposed to automating too much of the game. I have felt that so far the game developers have been interfering in the micro of the game too much. thanks for getting my head straight

Wont it be possible to just unburrow the banelings when there are enemy units above them, and then the banelings auto-attack? Making them attack automatically while burrowed seems to me too much like the spidermine.

    SemiEvil has a point
but there wouldn't be that much of element of surprise when it is castable suicide than unborrowing it first

since there is no more spidermine, maybe the banelings could replace them

I don't think they are even going to be able to burrow. And my baneling theory is that when a zergling mutates to a baneling he has a timer (like 20, 30 secs or so) and after it reaches it's end the baneling automatically explodes. Or maybe they won't be able to stop and they will move constantly. I think it would be too imba if zerglings would just mutate to banelings without penalties or something. Suicidal anti-air (scourge) is something but suicidal anti-ground also affects buildings, not to mention that there are way more ground units. And about the baneling mine idea, I don't like it. Doesn't seem too zergish to me.

you forget that baneling have th price of zerglings+ an upgrade, and you upgrade per piece, while you train 2 zerglings at a time
