    a tribute to them
    poster of all pokemon here

what are your thoughts on the game? i know there used to be a thread about this. but what are your thoughts on it?

red and blue: the first games made in the franchise. (maybe besides the pinball games). you start out as mr. generic male character and start out with squirtle, bulbusaur, or charmander. You then proceed to go around, beating the eight gym leaders and becoming teh best masta EVA. all while stopping team rocket whenever they came out to be a minor annoyance instead of an actual challenge. and through this you had your rival (preferablly names somethign insulting or demeaning once you played it when you were older) following you and then advancing at the last minute where you promptly would kick him aside like trash. The elite four in this game was hard in my opinion, not impossible hard, but at least challenging.

silver and gold: a few years later, the pokemon team said let's get on with a new series and came out with gold and silver. the best series, imho. you not only fought through (with team rocket bashing you at every term to drag out playtime) new gym leaders and the elite four, but could also go back and revisit your nostalgia in the old regions only with better graphics and higher levels.

ruby and sapphire: (where you could finally be a girl :O ) there obviously weren't enough pokemon, there had to be MOAR. so copy paste the last two things except edit out team rocket and make it team magma and aqua and make you skinnier and slightly better graphiced. also cut it down to six gym leaders again, and laugh at people's faces as you make new pokemon you can;t get unless you cheat

sapphire and pearl: ofc, let's remake the series, only let's throw a million more legendaries in. and make it take away all the old pokemon and throw in weird looking ones with effed up names. let's also ignore new plot line options. i mean they got rid of the old pokemon, make a new plot line. once again it feels the need to follow the linear story =(

yellow, crystal, fire read and leaf green, emerald: offset games of each series, save fire fed and leaf green, which were rip offs of red and blue, only epic. and better than the originals.

overall, i did enjoy the pokemon games, as i played ALL of them, even the pinball ones and the dungeon ones. they were relatively unique overall. a game where you caught little cute fuzzy things and fought them like an evil heartless tyrant, enslaving all the little fuzzies and forcing them to do your bidding. it was fun, if linear, to progress through each gym leader, recruiting your own army of creatures and progressing through gym leaders. it was nice to kick back and not do the fighting for a change, in this amazing world of pokemon :3

They were the first games made, pinball was later. Always had team rocket being one step ahead of you til the very end when you defeat Giovanni for the um-tinth time. Elite four was indeed challenging. Plus, you had to fight your rival again at the end.

Had the best music in the series. Elite four was too easy in this version, highest lvl being only 51. It had the best team rocket theme (I remember when the radio tower got taken over and I would just stand somewhere and listen to the music on the radio). Was also the first game to include shiny pokemon, most well known was the red gyarados. Kanto region was also a bit too easy, and every gym leader was more powerful than the elite four, which begs the question as to why they haden't overthrown them yet.

Was also the game that my favorite pokemon made its first appearance: Espeon.

Um...there were eight gym leaders :) What pokemon were cheats required? I know some needed events to happen etc.

    Its diamond, not saphire :)

linear, yes. But that's what made the games fun, you knew where to go and what your ultimate goal was.
They added 2 new eevee forms, which finally made having an all eeveelution team a good idea, something I'd wanted for years.

I do admit that the names could have been much better, and some of the forms could have been better.

You forgot Platinum, the new offset version of diamond and pearl.

Yellow was the only game to have a pokemon actually say its name rather than random noises(Pikachu), and multiple colors instead of all blue or all red; each town had its own color.

Crystal was the first game to feature pokemon motion animations at the start of battles. Also had a unique storyline following Eusine's quest to catch Suicune, while still running around to be the best trainer.

Emerald had you playing on both sides of the Aqua/Magma fight, being allies with one, then allies with another. Ultimately having to awake Reyquaza to cease the violence.

Gold and Silver where the best ones to me w/ great music, especially Ercuteak(sp?) city. The newer pokemon, just look funny to me, they seem over exaggerated in their features.

I have pearl version but I've never finished it.

i didnt like pokemon red and blue, mostly because of the slow interface and awfull graphics. It was a very great concept though, and in later pokemon games i would often have wished that they had been made by a different company. I never reached the elite 4 in this game :-(

frankly, i didnt like Silver and Gold, they didnt introduce any kewl new things and the three hounds never had a good background, or were at least original. Ho-Ho and Lugia should have been in red, blue and yellow, They were already shown in the show for pete's sake. Also Crystal was the first game where you could be a girl YAY ( i always play girl characters)

frankly, Emerald was my favorite, though i felt there were far too much legendaries. I really enjoyed the new pokemon(they felt far more natural then the gold/silver ones) and the cities, secret bases, tournaments and berries were great additions. I liked the fact that there was a story behind team magma and team aqua too.

i havent played these yet, but all the pokemon i saw were basically just copy-pasted old ones(omg baby mantine, how original) , and i think it is far too expensive for so little new beasties, this is one of the reasons i think its a shame pokemon is for the gameboy and produced by their company, because they should have just offered the new ones as patches, they would have made a great addition, but are not quite enough for their own game

The games i played were yellow, crystal, emerald and leafgreen, so i cant really compare them with the originals, i hated the fact that there is almost no access to johto pokemon in leafgreen and firered, and you need all the games(including the xbox one) to complete the pokedex, and i hated that

    AMEN

So after making the show, they were supposed to go back in time and put these two into game the show was based on?

I always thought the show was too stupid to be made from scratch. It at least makes some sense if it's based on a game

    You guys left out Collosuem.

Ruby, Sapphire, Fire red, Leaf green, and collosuem, make a sort of pact, and you can't get all of the pokemon without owning the other four.

That said, I only have Fire red.

How did I forget about that game? Kurai and I played it for a while, I got to the last series of fights(kept losing to the second to last guy in the game), and Kurai beat it. We also used it to store our powerful pokemon so we could restart games without having our work evaporate into nothingness, as well as used the bonus disk to get Jirachi(sp?).

Not to mention both Pokemon Stadium(friend had it) games, Pokemon Snap(friend), and Hey you Pikachu!(never played/seen that one).

I have confirmed that Pokemon Platinum was released to the Japanese public September 13, 2008. Over 1 million copies were sold in the first 2 days.

Also found this bit of info:

Silhouette images of five unknown Pokémon have been released by the official website. An item called the Secret Key will be given away in stores and over the WiFi connection from September 28 to November 4, 2008. The Pokémon connected to this item is Rotom, which can shift into a variety of new forms

I think just Platinum and a connection to Wi-Fi or a store.

So unless it comes out to the rest of the world within that time period, I dont see how they would be able to get it.
