I play random for both 1v1 and 2v2.

In 1v1 when I spawn as terran, I usually wall off and go for Banshees with cloak. By 7 minutes and 30 seconds by the in-game clock I'm in my enemie's base killing all their workers. It gives me an economic lead that lets me win matches most of the time, but the matches are not the funnest I've had.

In 2v2 I usually go for early ghosts, building my ghost academy right after my barracks, then a factory so I can make nukes. Each time I nuke, I cackle with glee and delight in watching the nukes fall. I even go back and watch the nukes fall in the replays to see their full damage. I bust down wall-ins with nukes, use com-stat to nuke up cliffs and nuke mineral lines. It's a blast.

I have SO much fun nuking in 2v2, but I don't do it in 1v1 because banshees work slightly better, and I take 1v1 more seriously. I realized I play 2v2 for fun and 1v1 for wins.

So my question is, does everyone else play to win or play for fun?

Right now I'm playing to win as I have never seen anyone with a w/l ratio below 50%
I'll go back to fun when I have about 50 wins and a solid 55% ratio or more.

Well i find nothing is more fun than doing a speed shuttle (prism speed upgrade) drop with a an extended lance collosus xD, its how i got the unbeatable (forget its name, the one where a single unit gets like 40 kills or so) achievement lol, did it like 3 times with my prism always being sort of close to his base

    I play more for fun.

I must be the only 1 cause everyone else just rushes me every game.
I don't think doing a cannon rush game after game is fun, but there's players
that zergling or cannon rush every game. So they would prefer to win.

I really don't like playing SC with just 1 unit in play so I hardly ever rush & prefer
    to play longer games.

I like to smoke weed & play, thats fun. But I always lose. Its so hard to play this
game high. Always forget to build stuff, like supply block myself.

    Both.

I find competition fun, and rated matches are by definition supposed to be competitive, so I typically try my best in ladder games. Because I like competition, and because the game is fun even if you're not trying off-the-wall stuff, I still enjoy myself.

That said, I play relatively little rated games (imo) because there is a higher amount of anxiety and less flexibility in what you can do that comes with that competition. So when I want a more relaxed environment I do custom games instead.

Of course getting rofl-stomped isn't very fun either, and I'm still a competitive person, so I've admittedly gotten into the habit of profile-checking during that long 30 second countdown and I adjust my game play accordingly. If I'm looking at what appears to be relatively unskilled opponents, I might try a race I'm uncomfortable with or go a stupid strat like mass Queens. But if I see a diamond player I put my rape face on >:O

I think that's pretty much the perfect example of playing for fun instead of playing to win. Fun is like going for big battles or nukes, or trying new strategies, or doing whatever you would enjoy even if you lose.

Playing to win is like searching for a sense of accomplishment. In 1v1, I'm happy to have a 1 sided battle where I completely crush my enemy. In 2v2s, I like really close games, win or lose.

    I think both,

I play to have fun of course, thats the whole reason to play games in the first place.
But you have more fun if you win.
Still you need to lose sometimes because it's not fun if you always win.
