according to the game video, i think that if you manage to summon a fleet of pheonix say 15 of them and make 3 groups of 5 and take turns letting each group use their overload, then the enemy get all their surrounding units (should be land OR air) a CONSTANT bash of damage = complete ownage. but of course i'm am NOT sure how the "energy bar" works, maybe you need to RECHARGE ENERGY after using overload (not including the frozen recoil). And Of course, the pheonix damage per hit would be quite low. post opinions? xD ;D
It's in the gameplay demo. It's basically a pretty weak air fighter but with an Overload ability that makes it attack all adjacent flying units, but leaves it completely paralyzed for a couple of seconds after using it.
tHE PHOENIX are the new generation of scouts in starcraft 2 I think that they will be just like the scout destroy the mutalisks, the guardians, the devourer, the terra buildings that try to scape. but the new abilitie is realy cool
I dunno how I feel about this specialization thing...I liked the one-size-fits-all-ness of the scout, even though it was way too expensive. so you have the phoenix for air, then the warp ray for BCs/Carriers, but what about something that can be used in a variety of situations? wtf am i gonna use for hit and run missions? Zerg have mutalisks, Terran (i can't see how they won't) have wraiths but what do Protoss have?
Nah, the overload is probably stackable, much like the corsair that it replaces, and as such splitting it up would only take longer to do the total overload attack damage. It could be useful however if you used your strat to make the enemy retreat "all the while getting in free hits while they flee". Overall I think its probably more useful to have them go off at the same time, as its more likely to destroy the larger body of units sooner that you are attempting to destroy.
Scouts were never capable of filling that role, due to their cost, even though that's what they were for. That's why they were the least used units in SC1, also why Toss didn't have a true high mobility hit&run harass unit to match mutas and vultures(wraiths also, but more so vultures, but now reapers). To answer your question, it will be the Stalker. Their high mobility is gained from their blink ability, and in turn, terrain crossing. It's actually looking pretty good for Toss this time around. And if you're still concerned, Phoenix attacks ground. Rejoice.
One of the doodads for the space platform is a crashed Terran Phoenix. Then in the gameplay video you can see a crashed ship when the mothership is heading towards the final battle. I tried to figure out what it was but there was too much smoke. You used scouts for attacking ground? why on earth would you do that? Ground units are generally the best thing to use against ground units unless the ground units in question do not hit air and don't have AA around (in which case shame on that player). But, the phoenix combines the scout and the corsair so you get both.
