Okay...This is getting annoying, about 15 of my "team" games I've lost because my team mate leaves at the beginning of the match. I just played a 4v4 and got cannon rushed by 4 protoss because all 3 of my team mates decided they wanted a different map. Why should I get a loss and lose points when I'm basically screwed from the get-go? I'm trying to move up, not move down...
Sounds like bad luck. If someone lags, it gives them the option to "surrender" right away, so you might have been matched up with a lot of laggy team mates. But don't worry about your points TOO much. If you find a buddy to play with after one of your 2v2's, when you play together you will do 5 new placement matches to determine the placement of your team, and you can display that as your 2v2 record.
When a teammate leaves, your team gets their resources and you get to control their stuff. At the very least you can keep them making workers, constantly feeding your team resources. If you can handle the extra macro and micro, you could just take over playing for that player. Trust me: a quit-player is a lot more useful than a terrible-but-present player.
i find it hard enough to macro one base, let alone 4 from the get go and then having to follow 4 build orders etc. Also what if your only good with one race, people shouldnt quit team games, its just gay
It has been happening a lot in 4v4, in almost every single game. Are these AI from blizzard that if there aren't enough for four players at your exact time when you connect, they team you up with these bots that drop out so you have to use play for them as a team of 2 or 3, depending on how many real players you can get at that moment? thats what I am thinking and it makes sense. If you notice the ones that drop out of a game immediately they are typically always Random and have cool wallpaper avatars and have sweet names like "Zeus" lol.
i hate when that **** happens. its like when your partner is getting attacked and he leaves but doesnt see that your enitre army is right there and would be able to help.....
when players leave its a benefit. yes, you have to hotkey all your buddies cc's, and nexus, and hatchery to 1 and occasionally press e, s, or sd but thats all. 4 armies of 20 units apiece vs 1 organized and upgraded army of 60 will lose and you steamroll em.
I don't care how good you are. A 1v4 even with all the resources of your allies and their 3 bases being given to you...is hard as hell. Going against 4 individual thinkers, who have the power to go things like mass lings/mass zealots, mass cannons, etc etc would require a ton of micro and macro on the part of the poor person left to fend for himself. Not to mention the sort of superiority pack mentallity that builds up for the team with multiple people. I'm sure most of us know what I'm talking about. Poor guy gets left alone and you automatically go. C:< FRESH MEAT So you go some wierd strat or something just to make them more butthurt. My only advice would be to bust out workers for the bases, get mass whatever youre main race's basic unit builders(Gates, Raxs, ...hatches?) and just pump the living hell outa it. Losing one game really wont hurt your record...unless you're cool like me and drop 90 ranks in one game.
Grrr...Teammates leaving.....annoying. Also, the guys with the 'sweet names' are often kids. xXxAlTeRnAtInGcApSxXx1337 is a kid. That explains a lot.
A thousand times this. I was playing 4v4 with a bunch of my friends once, including one who was absolutely atrocious. We finally broke our 6-game losing streak when the atrocious guy lagged and d/c at the start. I just controlled his scvs and command center to be properly saturated with ~26 SCVs instead of the usual ~14 or so, and the money was split among the rest of us, so we could macro like fiends and crush the opponents.
