    Hello,

I bought the original game directly from Blizzard Store and got the following problem. Every time I play, so to me after a few minutes. Sometimes 5, sometimes 20 game hangs completely, thus the entire PC and can not do anything but restart ...

I've tried all the tips I found on google.com ... Thus:

    - Add "-skipopenal-nocpubinding" the representative

    - Set to Variables.txt - frameratecap = 60 and frameratecapGlue = 30

    - Install the latest drivers for your video card (nvidia geforce 7300 GT)

    - Reinstall the game

Could you here, please someone help me to solve this critical problem?

    Thank you.

Even though the min spec for the game is a 6600, I think that the 6600 is a way more powerful card then the 7300GT. The rest of the system looks okay, although the different ram speeds may cause stability issues.

You did try the newest drivers, right? The ones found here?

You can also try updating your Intel chipset drivers, found here.

Additionally, you can update all of your Intel drivers in one go by going here. Site may work better in IE. This should help you get an updated Intel Audio driver (if your using that for your sound).

Honestly, I think you need to replace your video card. But its hard to tell.

Your machine, on the other hand, shouldn't have this issue, but it may be the nVidia overheating issue. Read my FAQ and read the question "Q. StarCraft II runs okay for about 5 mins, and then slows down to a crawl!? What do I do?" and try that solution first, as its a common nVidia issue right now.

Otherwise, try updating your drivers (Question one).

Already updated drivers and tried the variables edit as well.....no luck though.

Its not like it slows down to a crawl. It just freezes the entire PC. The screen goes to no signal input and the keyboard and mouse become unresponsive. Only action I can take after this happens is a hard reboot.

Odd thing is that this is the only game that has this issue. COD4, Singularity, Just Cause all work great on high settings.

After about 15 hard resets, it got too tiresome to continue. Feels like such a waste of money.....

I have the same problem i think, the pc freezes and on my screen theres a lot of different types of artifacts. The color changes, theres some pixelstreaks, theres a lot of squares in a color and so on, the only graphics left as original is the UI.

I have updated drivers, dx9 and removed antivirus as well, no luck. My 2 8800GT cards runs at around 55 celcius a minute before the crash, so its defo not overheating there. In fact no temps on "Speccy"´s overview showed temperature problems at all.

I cant pin the problem 100% on video/sound popups in the game either, though it seems to come around 80% when the small advicery video comes. Funny thing is that the other day i did 8 missions in a row with no problems, now i cant even play for 10 minutes. Wonder if its a patch the last couple of days.

Guess we will just have to wait and see when blizzard gets the glitch fixed, i can say for sure its not a problem with my hardware

That sounds either like a Power Supply issue (not enough power to the machine), or the entire thing is overheating. Is the machine dust free inside? Is thermal paste properly applied to the CPU GPU? Does this issue occur in other games?

I got the exact same issue.

After a couple Minutes of Playing my PC freezes. Mouse and Keyboard are not responsive and I just see the last screen from Gameplay...

    My setup:
    Asus P5N-D
    Intel Core2 Quad Q9400 @ regular speed
    GeForce GTX280 1GB
    4GB DDR2-800
    750W PSU

Unfortunately I got no spare Video-Card I could try.

I cleaned the PC earlier and tried playing again. Same problem.

Could it really be a Heat-Issue with the nVidia cards?

-Open your Variables.txt file (which can be found in C:\Users\{YourUserName}\Documents\StarCraft II)

Add these lines to the bottom:
    frameratecap=60
    frameratecapGlue=30

So you did try the above solution and you still have issues?

The game is bugged, disable the adjutant and portraits animation completley, and no more crashes, it even crashes on campaign mission menu (RETARDED ADJUTANT!)

I know one of you amazingly intelligent people can help...

I'm having a similar problem that I hope someone can help with. It's killing me!

Last week, I was playing fine on medium settings with the following specs:

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+ 2.30 Ghz
    2 gigs RAM
    Nvidia 8400
    Windows Vista 32

I then installed a Nvidia 9400GT and it continued to work fine.

Yesterday, I factory wiped my computer to clear up some space, installed all drivers, Service Pack 1 and 2 and Starcraft 2. Upon playing, I found that I could play fine for exactly 6 minutes and then it would slow to a crawl. I noticed upon pressing (Ctrl + Alt + Del) that my memory usage was skyrocketing to 1.6 gigs of usage. Also, upon factory wiping the computer, Starcraft 2 installed slower also. (does service pack 2 slow everything down?)

So here's the thing. I assumed it was the new vid card overheating...but why would it work fine before the factory wipe? I tried the framerate addition on the notepad, but no help.

Can someone help? I'm at a complete loss, and quite frustrated. Any assistence would be amazing. Thanks.

I have the exact same issue on only ccertain missions, the Tosh mission, Redstone I think, and once in another mission in which i managed to end up beating. Mines will freeze up and doesnt respond, red streaks on the screen, sound works but cannot multi task back to windows or do anything, I have to power off. I had the same issue with my old cpu and i also updated drivers for vc, I personally think its a programming issue with sc2 and not hardware. I may try the redstone level again by disabling the portraits, but I have not overcome that level by playing all the levels up until a different tier of the campaign.

    My Specs

    Intel Core2Duo 2.93 E7500
    XFX nForce 610i Mobo
    OCZ 2 GB Ram Pc-6400
    Win XP Pro OS
    Powercolor Radeon 4670 1gb

I have the same issue on my HP Desktop. I've never experienced these issues on other games before, but during SC2, periodically between 10-20 minutes, the game would completely blackout for 10 seconds or so, and then return to whereever I was. During this time, the computer is frozen. Sometimes, the computer simply does not return, and I have to hard restart it as you did.

    Irritating!
