Patch 8 (Real)

    After having a faked leak of the 8th StarCraft 2 patch, it appears the real heir to the throne has revealed itself. In the 8th patch, there has been a significant change for the Terran. A new upgrade, Concussive Shells has been added to the Terran Tech Lab. It costs 100/100 and gives Terran Marauders their movement-slowing attack. This will significantly hamper any early Terran infantry builds and should give further incentive for Terran Mech options. Here's the full changelist:

    Balance Changes
    • TERRAN
      • Thor
        • Build time decreased from 75 seconds to 60 seconds.
      • Siege Tank
        • Build time decreased from 50 seconds to 45 seconds.
      • Marauder
        • Concussive Shells now require an upgrade.
      • Barracks Tech Lab
        • Concussive Shells upgrade added.
        • Concussive Shells upgrade costs 100/100 and takes 80 seconds to complete.
    • PROTOSS
      • Void Ray
        • Changed to only have 2 damage levels instead of 3. Still takes the same amount of time to fully charge.
        • Base damage changed from 2 (+4 armored) to 5.
        • Powered-up damage changed from 8 (+16 armored) to 10 (+15 armored).
        • Armor value decreased from 1 to 0.
        • Cost increased from 200/150 to 250/150.
    • ZERG
      • Roach
        • Burrowed move speed decreased from 2 to 1.4.
        • Armor value decreased from 2 to 1.
      • Hydralisk
        • Life decreased from 90 to 80.

    Wow... Marauder is just wow... Other stuff is fairly reasonable. Void Ray might turn out alright.

    i guess early marauders are just too effective against zealots...

    Well the maurader got the nerf I feel because it was too strong early game with the slow. It was hard for protoss to have a defence against them while immortals/collosi where coming.

    EDIT: as asdf said, you'd only have zealots and stalkers and perhaps a few stalkers.

    As a Terran player I must say it was all good until the marrauder nerf. They really keep on screwing my race over with their patches.

    In all honesty that's what all people say... I am pretty sure that zerg players will whine over roach and hydra nerf as well.

    Still it wont be much of a deterrent for them heh, guess i'll just have to upgrade my tier 1 units further before I attack... lol

    good set of changes but i still think they need to bring the lurker back.

    Honestly I don't care that Concussion grenades are an upgrade, but 100/100? REALLY?

    Screw that I'm going mech build now. lol

    what happens if we don't search the marauder upgrade ? Is this unit necessary then ?

    The Void Ray thing kinda bugs me. From a gameplay PoV, makes sense. But it loses what makes it unique.

    +1 for the Roach nerf. Maybe I can actually kill them now.

    The only mechs I really use are the siege tanks (almost all the time) and hellions (against zerg). Kind of nice they subtracted 5 seconds from siege tank, but its not going to make much of a difference for me. As for Thor, its still irrelevant even with the 15 second subtraction.

    Zerg just got hit by the nerf bat hard, and not many people probably realize it. Marauders did deserve that nerf. If you look at top replays at the moment of terrans vs. anything. it's PURE marauders. One little upgrade will make lings and zealots actually viable. I approve of the other terrans buffs. Mech needs to ROLLLLL OUTTT.

    Void ray changes are interesting, I'll like to see how it goes.

    What really sucks is the 80Hp hydras, they cost 25/25 more than SC1 with the same stats. In addition, that 10 HP nerf was huge. Now storm can potentially wipe them without any assistance, and 1 less swipe from a collosus. less durable against terran bio and it's tier 2. I don't care what they do to the roach, it's sucks balls anyway.

    gg blizzard u nerf marauders good that is good but u try to buff mech to give us a chance but that was a fail i mean lol is all i can say

    Marauders needed the nerf, cant see myself bothering to get the upgrade as the slow is mainly useful in the early game where it will be too expensive. Roaches definitely needed the nerf bat, dono about the hydra nerf tho.

    Terran mech "buff" doesn't really help. Thors are still useless except maybe if you learn zerg is going mutas and you can get one out quicker now, we will see, still probably won't have an armory yet.

    Does anyone even use void rays?

    Yeah a lot of Protoss guys try to mass void rays in 2v2, it never works (well maybe like once, but that was back in patch 6)... lol
    As for the Marrauder nerf its still not holding me back at all for MMM cheese. I just get that missile upgrade, stims, maybe shields and go.

    are you serious? void ray rushes are (were?) one of the most effective protoss strategies.

    You could probably pull it off on a bronze or copper level player. Anything beyond that and it probably wont work.

    I've seen Void Ray rushes at every level of play and they're extremely effective. Especially against Zerg, taking out the Queen prior to the lair completion.
