Anyone seen it yet? I'm planning to this Saturday, I read an article and I have to say, it caught my attention. A high rating on IMDB of 8.7 and a $11,000 budget is enough to make me curious. Not to mention that people are flocking over to the theaters daily. So far, I haven't heard anything negative about the movie which raises my anticipation even more. I honestly hope this movie is scary (which I heard it is VERY), because most American horror films are just crap in terms of thrill and plot... not all, but most. In case you don't know what I'm talking about, It's only showing in a few select theaters in US and Canada. I think.
$11,000? uhhmmm, I'm a noob when it comes to film budgeting but isn't that amount a little too small to be considered a movie budget at all? Im guessing this is one of those minimum effort movies with good end results like blair witch project... I'll read on this. I like sci-fi anyways.
Hey people can do high quality movie with only a five hundred dollar budget, take a look at escape from city 17. Anyway, i've heard about this, but its not showing anywhere near me.
11,000 is a huge sum of financial resource if used correctly. Honestly, the props and set can be obtained easily for free from the local University or drama club. All that's left is to buy additional materials and hire additional actors who are willing to accept a meager hourly rate. Combine the above with an engaging script and terrfic acting/impersionation, you've got a box office hit.
Oh haha awesome, didn't notice I made this thread at 666 posts Anyway, I'm going to see it this Saturday (today now), I'll fill you guys in on how it is. Yes $11,000 is considered a low budget film. Steven Spielberg actually liked this movie and I believe he helped the director make the ending.
bottom line is this movie is NOT scary. I took a friend of mine to see it and he just got bored, and he can't even sit through nightmare before Christmas. Now that being said I will say that just because it isn't scary doesn't mean it sucks. To be honest I was very entertained by this take on horror, and kinda hope they even go so far as to make a sequel using similar methods of filming it. If you want to watch something a bit different from your average film then this would be a cool thing to watch. If your going in to get freaked out best wait another week or two for the latest addition of Saw or what ever else rocks your boat.
Saw isn't scary, it's more of an entertainment movie to me. But this movie isn't scary either. Yeah I saw it a couple of weeks ago, I just forgot to post what I thought. However it IS more than your average American horror film, I give it that. But it's not what I thought it would be. I guess it's popular here in US because they're comparing it to other US films such as Sorority row, Jennifer's body, and all this weird crap coming out these past years...
Yeah our horror, sometimes isn't really horror, but more of a joke. Though there are some gems, i found pandorum to be good.
I saw it yesterday. Yes, I'm stupid, but I thought it was ACTUAL footage. I had a moment where i thought the movie was real and was rather stumped why if they had evidence like this that people still didn't believe. I think a similar thing happened with the Blair Witch project, i've heard. Bottom line, the movie was pretty good. I'll say right now i cna't and don't do horror movies, but that wasn't that bad. The only reason i was scared is because i thought it was real. I slept well last night, tbh. Any movie that's the "most terrifying of the year" should make me not able to sleep since I'm paranoid and cna't sleep without worrying someone's going to kill me on a daily normal basis. It was a very creepy movie and well made, though. Only the last twenty minutes really got terrifying. and i definately reccomend it if you're looking for somethign different :3
