I have played zer twice, and both times i have found it to be helpful to make many overlords for battle. the first time i used they was to drawe fire off of my units by covering them from attack clicks. The second time was to cover the enemy forces from selection, it was an effective way to slow the enemies unit selection. any thoughts on this tactic? ???
ya... im a terran kind of guy, plus i play with my friends mainly where we team up and fight each other 2v2. my friend who teams with me is always zerg so i have practiced and played almost purely terran
This wouldn't be practical on a normal match as every little thing counts. But on a money map or something that is a strategy I'd use. Send a whole load of Overlords to their base, spread them out, then send in my attack force.
money map? Ya, it was cool to see the units dissapear under a cloud of overlords. MY friend who i play with has now started to use the tactic and it has been a success, so far, AS you said, it does drain the money, but the enemy does not convcentrate its fire on a single unit saving money on soldier repairing or buildin g
Well... I use to send in at least one Overlord as a detector in any forces I sent in. It was shot down pretty quick but it allowed me to quickly bite the heads off of anything I deemed worth destroying. Observers, D. Templars, burrowed units etc; It's been awhile since I first played starcraft...but i think they changed Queens. They use to be detectors and that was like...all they were good for Besides the insta-gib parasites haha.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but Queens were never detectors. This strategy as has been said would be effective on a money map, but otherwise is not an option most players would deem acceptable. I rather just put minerals into Sunkens and Spore colonys throughout my base and assimilate the map gradually until the enemy will have to fight through enough sunkens that it really wouldn't matter as he ran out of money.
I actually just stumbled on the strat the other day. It works surprisingly well when your attack force is made of cracklings and sped up hydras. It's wholesale slaughter. Only downside is you don't get to watch.
I could have sworn they were ages ago when starcraft came out. I was 8 or something. And all 8 year olds have ADHD. Because everything is better in HD. Which brings up an idea... Is blizzard going to add the ability to zoom in / pan around during combat?
It's already in the current build. Check the gameplay footage where a pro player plays Protoss against Terran.
