Ok, I know there are other minor alien races out there. The fluff on the collossus page talks about a race the protoss had contact with. There is a phoenix like thing in one of the books. Let's all make a list of all the confirmed races in the SC universe.
The Sameongy are one such race that has appeared in some Blizzard art. They appear to be bipeds with advanced technology but seem to posses no arms. To me they are one of the most intriguing races. I hope we get to see some of them in SCII or one of its expansions. A surprise Brief encounter with the Sameongy would be very welcome. Maybe they have something to do with the cycle that Zeratul talks about. Zerg. Protoss. (Dark Templar.) Terrans. (Humans from Earth.) Hybrids Xel'Naga Energy creature (aka phoenix creature) Ulrezaj's enhanced Zerg. Briefly mentioned in a deleted version of the first protoss map from StarCraft (not Brood War). Kalathi. These guys were having a civil war until the protoss intervened. The protoss eventually unleashed the Colossi on them. We know the kalathi were massacred, but we don't know if they went extinct. About the Samoengy, there's controversy about how canonical it is, which is why it's in a user page and not a regular page. (They're just stored there in case their status changes.) Tauren and Murloks - obviously a Blizzard April Fool's joke, but the tauren marine will actually be a unit in the game editor. That's all the Blizzard-connected stuff. There's also rumors about an "infested terran race", Vanix, Prel'Naga and other obviously non-Blizzard stuff.

Just to clarify, the Kalathi weren't attacked by the Colossi, they were warring against the Protoss and the Protoss designed the Colossi to use as war machines. The Colossus was just the first Protoss war machine designed primarily for war.
